I'm looking for tips on selecting a general purpose bipod for an AR. Primary use will be from a bench or shooting prone. I'm leaning toward a 6-9" Harris with swivel and "M" option to deploy the legs. Also, I like the RBA-1 quick detach rail adapter that rotates/pans.

Budget is $200 for bipod and mount.

Thoughts?

I use a 6-9, so I can clear under low obstacles (sometimes we shoot under cars). Only drawback with this and an AR platform is that 30 round mags will not clear the ground. I run 20 round mags all the time to avoid this issue. The swivel M model is the way to go. I've got a lot of them.

I have a 6-9 and a 9-13. Use the 6-9 when shooting off a bench, and sometimes when prone. You will need to use a 20 round magazine with the 6-9. The 9-13 I use mostly for 3gun. To me it gets the rifle to a better height for prone shooting, but is generally too tall for shooting off a bench.
