As my stock of Unique is getting low, I am wondering if I should try a different powder. I am also of the mind if it is not broken, don't try to fix it. My load has been performing well for the last 5 years. 5.7 gr gives me major PF with 200 gr LSWC. And I shoot the 1911 pistol.

Experienced thoughts from the members?

Thanks in advance,

I've found that 4.0 gr of Clays with a small pistol magnum primer under a 230 gr fmj is the softest shooting .45acp load I've come across while still barely edging into major. I don't have my load notes in front of me and I don't recall the o.a.l.

I liked BE for 230gr cast lead 45. It also wasn't very smokey or dirty like BE with cast 9mm is. I think it has something to do with the lower pressure in 45.

I haven't loaded .45 in a long time, but I always used Win 231

I only sprinkle it on the tacos, most of it is used for the .40
