Best AR-15 ammo

Depends on what you're using it for.
Plinking or home defense M855 ball would be my choice
for accuracy go with custom reloads

I've probably fired just about every brand of .223 ammo there is. When the Obama scare was in full swing, one bought whatever could be found at the time. I haven't fired each for accuracy, but they have all ran through the gun, without any trouble.
Currently shooting my reloads.

PMC Bronze 55g fmj shoots well for me. Very reliable and pretty accurate. It groups around 1.5" at 100 for me and I was easily hitting 12" steel at about 350 and full size IPSC at 400-500 this weekend with it.

if you have a 1:7 twist barrel, I'd recommend Black Hills 77gr 5.56 OTM rounds. These are the actual MK262 77gr rounds they are making for the Military that is being used in the Middle East. Awesome accuracy (uses 77gr Sierra Match king open tip boat tailed bullets) and fragments and yaws violently even at low velocity rates in SBR's. Downsides are reduced barrier penetration, but that's actually a plus for me for a target / defense load.

Silver State Armory and couple of other manufacturers are starting to produce MK262 rounds now, as well. I'm sure they're comparable to the Black Hills loads.

Hornady 75 gr TAP rounds are also accurate and great for a defense round. You usually will only find the .223 75gr Tap rounds, but if you can find actual 5.56 75gr Tap T1 or T2 rounds, stockpile as much of it as you can. Even if you don't use it, they sell like gold because they're hard to find.

For general plinking, I usually find lake city surplus or Israeli surplus 55gr 5.56 rounds. I typically stick with 5.56 since they're more accurate in my LWRC. I'm thinking about building a plinking AR rifle specifically in a .223 chambering or a wylde chambering with a 1:9 barrel so I can shoot the cheaper stuff more accurately.

For matches, Anything brass, (not steel) that is cheap. Federal, PMC, S&B, BVAC, ect.

For hunting I use Hornady V-Max.
For hd, Hornady tap or anything that's not FMJ.

Black Hills 69 gr sierra MK are sub MOA with most guns. PMC is the best cheap ammo I have found. Have you shot groups with the BVAC ammo yet?

IMO teh best ammo for an AR is the ammo you have lol

I will shoot anything through mine, but my favorite "plinking" ammo is WMA Millitary Classic

99% of the time it's user error or user computer but sometimes permissions get wacked. Send B.S.DuBois a PM and he can check your stuff out.
