What have you all heard about the Beretta U22 Neos?

It looks kinda interesting for a .22 handgun.

I just don't like where the magazine release is at really, it's in an odd place for me, well for everyone really.

I might decide and get it for like Steel Challenge and other things if I know it's worth it or not! :)

I haven't read good things about the Neos. Note I said read, as I don't have any first hand experience so you can take that with a grain of salt. I do know that I love my Ruger Mark II 22/45.

I had one briefly. It pointed terribly and the safety, when disengaged, goes down and dug into my hand. Very uncomfortable to shoot. Only positive I can say is it was easy to disassemble.

Some of the early models had a failing firing pin and were warranty replaced by Beretta. The carbine kit looks pretty mod (some thing from Barbarella).
The 6" barrel it shoots nicely and reminds me of the High-Standard .22lr of old. The mag release with trigger finger reminds novices to keep your finger off the trigger.
But after all is said and done, I would of gone for a Browning Buckmark because the grip has a similar angle to a 1911 and parts are more readably available.
HTH.

Alexander, in case you don't know, the Buckmark is made by Browning
I know they're made by Browning! :P Is the magazine release were it would normally be or on the heel of the gun? If it's on the heel of the gun then I more than likely won't get it, I just want a .22LR handgun that works just like a plain semi-automatic pistol.
What about the .22 1911's that GSG makes or what Sig makes? Are those good?

OK then. I'll either go with a Ruger, Browning, or mabeu one of the GSG or Sig 1911 .22LR handguns.
I do have a Ruger MKII but I want something new, something with a regular magazine release and not a magazine release at the heel of the gun.
I've heard that the Browning Buckmarks are kinda finickie with certain types of ammo, is that true?

Alexander, check out the Smith & Wesson M&P 22 as well. Wormydog has one and is giving it great props. Check out some of his comments in this thread, particularly post #19.

I have one of the GSG 1911 .22's and really like it as well. I think it's a good choice for the money if you want that platform. The GSG and SIG 1911 .22's are basically the same gun. My GSG has been very reliable and fun to shoot.

Good luck in your choice.

Ok. What about the other .22's that S&W makes? Not the M&P but that other one, I think it's called the Model 1 or something like that? That one is kinda intersesting. If I get an M&P handgun it'll be in .40 first then in .22.
My dad says for his next .22 it'll be one of the 1911 styled ones. They do feel really good in my hand. Magazines are heavy though! :P To me though it just feels kinda thin although there's little difference in width.

My bad, the .22 from S&W I'm talking about is the Model 22A. Are those any good?
I'd like to get the Model 41 but NO WAY ON THIS EARTH will I get one for that type of money!

You're saying that all Buckmarks are finickie with certain ammo, right?
I'm saying that pretty much all mag fed .22 pistols are, some quite a bit less than others.
The Buckmark is one of the best .22 pistols you can get.

The Mark II Ruger has the mag release on the heel, and does not lock the slide back after the last round.
The Mark III puts the mag release where a 1911 is located, and will lock the slide back after the last round.
Mark II mags will work in the mark III, but won't do slide lock.
You must use Mark III mags for that to happen.
