Lance is right. Again.
When choosing a pistol for carry there are two places you want to look, physically, for starters: What are comp guys shooting, and what pistol is in police holsters.
Both are dominated by Glock, with M&P coming up really fast. When I'm teaching at CLEET the first thing I do is walk up and down the line and see what everyone is carrying. I can't remember the last time I saw a Beretta in a cop holster, but I'd guess it's been a few years. It's Glock, M&P, and XD (in that order). There is a large gap between those 3 and SigSauer (some state agencies issue these) and various 1911s (Kimbers and Springfields). Other than those 5, there really isnt alot out there in CopLand.
10 years ago, you wouldn't find much other than Glock and Sig.
