I have a 28" M1 in the shop Id doing a race package to right now. Im cutting down the barrel to 22.5, threaded for choke tubes. Ill post some pics when its done so folks can see what they can get by getting a cheaper m1 field.

Interested in following your progress.

I'd be curious as to the cost of this option as 26 & 28" barrel M1's come up quite frequently for $600-800.

I would second knowing the cost for cutting one down also. And to twist it can you thread it for anyone's chokes? I know yes but I want to know cause I have chokes for my SLP and would just prefer not to buy new when I get the Benelli funds out of the red!

Cheers!

If you cut a barrel down more than a few inches you typically run into the barrel not bring thick enough for standard chokes. So they have to use thin wall chokes which limits the brand of chokes you can use. I had Briley cut down a couple of 26" barrels to 18.5 and 20". Both had to be threaded with their thin wall chokes. Trapr said he had his 24" Nova cut down from 24" to 21" by Briley and they were still able to rethread the barrel for the M1 chokes. When I did a bunch of research on cutting and rethreading barrels I found that Briley was the only place that had the tooling to rethread a barrel to accept Benelli M1 chokes.

I have a 26" m1 I'm thinking about getting it cut down. Does AI do this? Even if i have to use the thin wall chokes? What length should i have it cut to? I wanna run a +6 tube with briley chokes. And i dont mind the tube being longer. I even thought about a + 7 tube. I'm needing to send it to him anyways for a full race package.

Mike Cyrwus is AI so I would guess that he does it.

Yeah I have been waiting for the M1 barrels to come back in stock I just ordered one today so hopefully I can make it out to a 3 gun match before to long

Jackary-Thanks for posting that link for those barrels just ordered one have been looking for one for about 3 weeks

no problem I have been waiting on funds and have watched them go in and out of stock for awhile before I finally pulled the trigger

Mike, it seems we're doing the same project. I bought a 28" M1 Field for 600.00, and will turn it into a 3 gun demon, for a lucky lady on the east coast. 19.75" barrel, 13" lop, kick eez pad, the whole thing will be done for a lot less than what an M2 will cost you and it will be made to fit the shooter.
