Battle Rifle picture thread

I get the cheek piece from my Long Range shooting buddy Shawn at www.defensiveedge.net

They are pretty (the photos show two different sticks)

Got a wicked cool Super Match that I'll post a photo of here in a bit.

You have good taste mister!

If you don't mind another question, what rear aperture do you run on those?

I shot my first 3G match with my SA NM and found the NM rear sight ain't what one needs when on the clock. It wasn't pretty.

Im not Patrick Kelley, but I run the standard rear on mine and it runs just fine for me, and my first few matches were with a wide front sight as well. The standard rear aperture is large enough to leave you room to see, and small enough to give you a fair enough level of accuracy...Farthest Ive shot with the standard sights is 300, Im sure I could have done better than I did but even in OK wind it was fairly easy to crack a 10in plate at 300 with standard sights and no bedding shooting semi supported

Well here's my .303... It just sits in my safe waiting for me do decide how I want to mount optics on it. My grandfather was a toolmaker and machined the receiver so I can't use an ATI scope mount. I guess I'll have to either have an AK style mounted on on the side or use one of those barrel sleeves with a rail on it. Sorry about the horrible camera phone pics.View attachment 2507View attachment 2508

That is nice. I killed my first deer with a 303. I let a guy talk me out of it years ago. I wish I would have never let it go. I hope to find another some day.

Sorry I am so late in this reply.

I drill out the rear to 0.070" and I love the hooded aperture.

I'll chime in...picked this up when CMP was in town. Stripped and refinished the stock (it did not have a cartouche so I don't think it was original)

this is my SA... barrel dates '44... all the drawing and heat treat numbers seem in line with the 44 date.

The wood got changed along the way- I'd suspect this rifle spent more time on a rack than it did afeild over the years

Need a photo of my 03 A3... very nice... I think it was a National Guard rifle for a long time... very clean and like new condition...cartouches and correct wood.

Denis, you made my day! I think i will smile overtime I see a a flinter in the future

Ha! Your welcome. Every time I hear that some politician wants to ban "assault guns" the flintlock comes to mind. It was certainly a battle weapon in its day :D
