What's the story on Bass Pro in Bricktown checking firearms at the front counter? Anyone have any experience with this? How does it work? I'm assuming it's like on Tombstone when you had to turn them in at the saloon til you left, or til Morgan Earp cracked you on the head and dragged you to jail!

does that apply to concealed weapon holders? If there's no "legal" sign I don't think it would. I know the bass pro here (Grapevine, TX) has a shooting range, hence the check weapon sign - for people bringing firearms into the store in cases...or at least that's what I thought that sign was for. Good thing mine's concealed becuase I haven't ever checked it at bass pro....and won't either...

Yeah, I've never checked mine at the one in Rowlett, and didn't see any signs about that either. I imagine this is in response to OK passing open carry, Aaron.

Thanks,
I'm not checking mine either. If that's what they require to shop there, weil...just like every other place with the "sign", I'm done with them!

I don't think that sign has anything to do with carrying a sideatm. More to do with bringing in a rifle or shotgun when going back to the hunting section of the store

I think thats correct. That has been in effect since they opened up. Kind of like bringing a return to walmart. They want to put a sticker on it before you go to the return section.

The check your weapon is for "maintenance, claenining, selling, etc...." with ccw or the new "handgun Liscense" that We now carry, there is no "NO FIREARMS ALLOWED" sign. on the door. keep it discreet and the guys at the gun counter have no problem(they ptobably have theirs in a center back concealed)

There is a "no firearms allowed" sign at Bass Pro Shop?

I took a rifle with me to academy and the asked to take possesion of it while I was in the store as it was a title II rifle i told them it has to remain in my possesion but they can carry it for me as my shopping buddy! :) I made the guy carry all my purchases and asked if he wanted the loaded gun in my pants lol

Same with Sportsmans warehouse, if you are taking a firearm in to purchase an accessory (holster, optic, etc.) they have you check it at the service counter that has a compact bullet trap, show clear, no mags etc. and then they take and tag it so security knows that you are good to go.
