Barrel swap on DPMS on AR from 260 to a 308

So I have a buddy that has a DPMS AR with a 260 barrel and he has grouping issues. He bought this used. He going to replace the barrel and go with a 308. Is the only thing he needs to do is replace the barrel and still use the original BCG correct? Also what barrel brand you guys recommend that's in stock? He says the 2 he's looking at right now are Ranier or Black Rain.

That doesn't sound good. What may be the issue?

nothing bad. 260 uses same bolt face, and mags should be fine too.
