What's a good setup for a SHTF ballistic rig? Thinking i need to up my prepper game a bit for 2016. I guess I need to store any chance of AR mags in it and a medical kit to not look stupid bugging out?

Any help is appreciated.

I am a big fan of the MarCIRAS vest. I distributes the weight very well and is very comfy. Feels very light on, even if it's actually heavy. If you don't want to go heavy with all the pouches and whatnot, look at AR500. They have a vest that converts into a laptop bag / briefcase. It''ll fly under the radar in that it doesn't look like a tactical bag when carried as a laptop bag, but allows for quick deployment of the plate carrier.

Do you pair that with a chest rig or do you just attach pouches to it directly.

The MarCIRAS is covered in MOLLE so you can attach any pouches you want. The laptop bag one, doesn't have anywere you could add pouches, but you could couple it with a vest if needed. If you are looking for something to add pouches too, I'd use the MarCIRAS. The laptop bag one is more for being covert. Having protection with you at the office, where a full on plate carrier with pouches would not be well accepted.
