We have talked about belts, holsters, spare magazines and primary carry guns, but does anyone actually carry a back-up gun regularly?

I'm not being a smart ass, I really wonder how many people actually carry one? I do not. I'm not saying it isn't a good idea or that I shouldn't consider it but right now I don't.

BONUS: If you really do carry a BUG and post a picture in the Carry Gun Contest of BOTH guns being carried, you will get two entries for that day!

You know, I was thinking sort of the same thing. As I was typing that last post I thought, "When I'm in the car, my carry gun becomes the BUG to the stuff in my trunk."

I carry a BUG. The Kahr CW40 strong side and P3AT weak side, or in a coat pocket in the winter. In the truck for comforts sake, the .40 goes into the door pocket until needing to get out of the vehicle to go in somewhere. If not going to work, but headed for the farm, the M4 carbine is typically on the passenger seat with a cover over it. The M4 has its special place in the cab of the tractor for varmints and such.

J Frame or a Glock 26. Not that I am a fan of them (ankle rigs, that is)... the j frame in an ankle holster works out pretty well as a back-up mode to the other pistols I favor. It's cool enough above 6000 feet many days that a shoulder holster borne secondary pistol gets worn here more than in OKC.

Main gun is a belt carried 1911 or Glock 19. We have some small to mid sized black bears and big cats in the Sierra's so when I head up that way the belt gun becomes a .357 magnum.

I've been thinking about getting a back up gun as nothing I have now would work very good for the purpose. Maybe something I can slip in a front pocket

I actually carry two back up guns. Sorry I can't get them both in one picture. You definitely don't want to square off in any CQB with this fire power!!!

These happen to be concealed rather than open carry like I do in the warner weather.
