ATP Guns

Needless to say it's been a pretty frustrating thing with this weapon.
Anyone have any experiences with calico?

Bring it in Enjay and I'll check it out.

You know, at this point I?m almost so frustrated with it (the calico m-100s mentioned above) that if it were to have an accident, possibly one involving open flame, toxic waste, and a semi rabid radioactive weasel hopped up on espresso, that I?m not sure I would comment excessively.

In all seriousness, however, I have the potential to love this rifle. It is, IMO, a beautiful weapon. The stock is perfectly sized for almost everyone in the family, it is surprisingly quite even for a .22, the kick is like getting hit with a soft pillow, it is incredibly accurate (when firing properly), ammo is cheap and plentiful, and the magazine capacity is deliciously luxurious for plinking, small game, or just severe concussive therapy sessions. The only complaint I have about it, when it functions properly, is that it takes a lot of patience to load the magazine

Rabid weasels? So that's what those things were! I thought the dust bunnies were just getting a bit rambunctious.

He has been talking about getting rid of it (and that in and of itself shows just how frustrating this has been because I'm pretty sure we won't be able to pry his guns out of his cold dead hands) but I've been dragging my heels because I really like the gun. I love the concept, it fits me perfectly and firing it when it's working is about the closest thing to pure fun that is publicly allowed. The recoil is significantly stronger than a soft pillow but it's no more than a nudge. Yes, loading it is a royal pain, it definitely takes longer than unloading it. I've been scoping the forums and have found several instances of people complaining about feed and extraction issues and the various things they've tried to fix it.
I have found some info that describes how they did a small redesign to create a sort of feed ramp on the chamber because they enter the chamber at an angle and the older guns were having FTF's and chewing up the bullets in the process. I jacked about 30 rounds through and the ones that seemed to hang did indeed have lines cut into the bullet so maybe that's it.

We're going to bring it in to East Coast this week and see what they can do.

Dale will do you good...but...I would think he would be very busy with Deer season starting...

He will fix your problems...

Steve

We brought it to Dale earlier today and he said he's going to take it home and see if he can run some rounds through it tonight to get a handle on what it's doing.
It turns out we have met Dale before. A few years ago we were making a purchase at ATP and got to talking about guns and a rifle we had that needed repair with this guy we met while we were waiting. He recommended we take it to the Gun Dr, and we did but he said he wasn't going to be able to do anything for us. The rifle was the calico, and the guy was Dale. Interesting how things work out, isn't it?
I have faith that Dale will be able to figure something out. I did warn him that when he gets it running he should try not to become attached as we do want it back.
I'm halfway thinking about doing a review post of it even though it's not functioning right now. I'll put it on the list right after the AKM.

You should not have to deal with that kind of frustration, Give it to me and let me deal with it from now on

Those things look like Buck Rogers stage props. The fact that you shoot all day and never reload the dang thing (100 round helical magazine)is also amazing. Good finger strengthening exercise.
