My son is awesome on modern warfare 3
Are conversations go like this
do you want to go shooting with me?
Not really dad I rather play catch or go hit.
No interest in shooting flip side is at 11 he got 2 out of the park homeruns & 3 @ 12.

There are some disturbed people out there...

Shooting is boring for kids. Get him out running and gunning. That can't ever possibly be boring, EVER!

That could probably go for most adults as well. Up until I started getting interested in shooting matches, I went to the range 2-4 times a year and I was happy somehow actually thinking I might get better from one time to the next. Now I can't shoot enough which also kind of sucks. Twice a month, 3 if I'm really lucky and I'm still not content.

And the article...although it is non-sense, it's just more ammunition for the Brady Bunch. We either have to get rid of violent video games or guns, or more than likely, both.

I don't think I have ever been around a kid that didn't have a great time shooting. If you take a kid shooting, the whole session needs to be about the kid. They really like semi-autos and reactive targets (instantaneous satisfaction). Explain things and ask them questions later testing their memory/understanding of the subject. On the ride home, ask them what they learned and what the enjoyed most.

When my cousins kid was 13 he was making short work of close range work targets (100 yards or less) with the .22 lr. So we went over to the silhouette range and I spotted for him and gave him direction on hold over. He was hitting the ram gong at 200 meters, then the chicken gong, then we moved out to the pigs at 300 meters. He was getting hits more than half the time. He was doing all of that with my 10/22.

Next time I take him out I will take the 10/22 for him along with the shooting tree that should keep it fun.
thanks for all the comments

I thought they already did try to ban video games a coupla times?

Yup. "They" tried to ban video games...but it turned out that Video games (and porn) were the driving force and the cutting edge of the dot.com and technology bubble which boosted the economy and "They" took credit for it all.
