AR Repair Kit/Spare Parts List

I picked up an upper receiver vise block on eBay for $10; has worked really well for me. My only usual problem in at reassembly is getting the front sight to not be canted.

My list of shame/broken/worn out parts:
Hammer & trigger pins
Hammer
Hammer spring
Firing pins - both standard AR and 22LR conversion kit FP's
Gas rings
9mm extractor, Olympic pattern
Enidine hydraulic buffer
Buffer springs
Buffer tubes

Got a care package from Brownells today. Looked through this thread and made a list of breakables that I didn't have or were mentioned multiple times. Thanks Clicker, I hadn't thought about some of the hammer/firecontrol parts and buffer springs. I also picked up some AR 308 proprietary parts before they were completely gone. Looking to keep the ones I've got running for the long term.

Spare bolt, buffer spring, trigger spring, hammer spring, then armorers wrench in case I need to do any barrel work or open a beer or wine cooler for the lady. Yup tapcos wrench has a bottle opener.

Honestly the only things I've personally ever warn out was a extractor spring, and I totally destroyed a tubbs buffer spring. But that flat wore spring was a gimmick pos.

Broke another extractor in my Oly 9mm upper yesterday! This is a modified 5.56 piece and while I have a spare I need to machine it to work in the 9mm bolt.
Time to see if the Oly lifetime warranty is real!

Got a MidwayUSA catalog in the mail; they have an AR repair kit for $35 that includes every spring and pin on the rifle, including a firing pin, new extractor, gas rings, takedown pins, disconnector, the works. This would be a worthwhile purchase.

Thanks 11B! Finally arrived in the mail today. My goodness there are some small springs and pins! When the package arrived I thought that it must be missing something due to its size but all 36 pieces were there.

Thanks again for all the suggestions in the thread.....

No problem, Mike. Hopefully you won't have to replace anything anytime soon, but if you should have to, that kit will be great. I want to get one of those kits myself (if not 2) because I have a feeling one day we won't be able to log onto the internet or walk into a gun store to get parts as we require them. I'd even like to have a spare barrel but that's lower on the list.

Looked at any optics yet?

I need to build a clay pigeon tree for out at the range...hopefully week after next has some warmer weather and we could get a Philson's day in. Tigerstripe lives close by there and is always up for shooting, too.

I hope I do not need to replace anything as well, especially since I can barely pick up some of those little pins they are so small! I hear ya on being able to get things we need. I waited 1.5 months for an email alert, jumped on it, and then after I ordered it said out of stock again until mid June! Crazy.

Still procrastinating on the optics. I need to find something nice for my wife for Valentines Day and sneak an optic in behind it.

I am really looking forward to Philson's again. It would be great to meet Tigerstripe as well. I think waiting for a warm day is a great call...I'm still cold from the last time we went. Good look with the clay pigeon tree. Sounds like a fun idea.

Cheers...

Do you have a direct link to this kit? I found a broken parts kit and a field parts kit, but neither matched your description.

Just curious...why would tie rod pins for a gigantic piece of construction equipment be applicable? I think you stumbled into the wrong forum...

You never know... So where did YOU stumble in from? Tie rod pins? Maybe I missed something.

Mods deleted a post in this thread made by a German guy referencing a German hydraulic hammer; an implement for a backhoe or other construction equipment. Thanks for the vote of confidence
