When I put my first lower together, it was like that. My son and I built it. It was good for both of us. Its been so long since I built it, my next may be a learning experience as well. LOL. I did buy a tool for the detents a while back. I will get to see how well it works when we get the PSA lowers.

My intention was to build a competition gun on a budget. I'm a bit impatient so I'm building a functional AR and upgrading parts as time and money comes

The Nordic-Wilson barrel is the best bang for buck on the market. $180 for lightweight, stainless, Wylde chamber, long gas.

Plus the one I had was sub-minute w/ PMC ammo. Rusty is shooting it now.

If you must have an 18" the DPMS MK12 barrel is also a great buy, but is heavy. I had one as well and it was also very accurate, Wall has it now.

If you want it all...lightweight, stainless, Wylde chamber, 18"...be prepared to buy a JP or Satern and spend $300-$500.
