AR mags RE-visited

Ok so there are pros and cons to both mags, preference seems key!!! So I'll buy a couple if each and decide for myself!!!! Lol

Exactly....Good thought process! You might even be able to find some people that would allow you to borrow a mag of each just for testing purposes.

The only mag-related malfunctions I've ever gotten were double feeds from two different pmags. Keep in mind I've used them a lot more than metal mags.

I think I'm leaning metal mags these days. They're a good bit cheaper, fit in mag pouches easier, fall out of my rifles easier and seem just as reliable to me. I really dig the Lancers, too.

Point is you're probably fine with whatever mag you get, provided it's from a decent manufacturer. I've had zero issues with C Products, NHMTG, D&H, Lancer and Fusil.

The Fusil mags are super cool. I picked a couple up for like $12 ea. one time and they are my favorite mags of all time. Not worth the $39 retail, though.

My only AR is a DPMS LR-308. I have the 2 factory steel mags and 2 Pmags. Shooting a few hundred rounds of nothing but Federal American Eagle .308 and 7.62 NATO, I've had 0 issues with feeding, so I prefer the Pmags just for the extra ounce or two I shave off when using them versus steel. With a fully loaded .308, I'll take any weight reduction I can get without sacrificing reliability and performance. So for the steel vs plastic debate, I choose plastic for the weight reduction and that argument is really only specific to my situation since it seems that more often than not, people have feeding issues with the factory DPMS mags.

Factory DPMS 308 mags only hold 19 and the PMag will hold 20 so that is nice also.

I will just revive this old thread about AR mags. I only saw one person mention Lancer Magazines.

Does anyone have any experiences with them?

I have two Lancer Mags and have at least 2,000 rounds through them and have never had any stoppages or double feeds. I can't say that for my Pmags.
