Why is there such a price difference in bolts for AR-15's ? Im not talking BCG just the bolt. I've seen them as low as $50 and all the way to $160. Is there that much difference?

Here is some light reading to get you started.

Lots of metalurgy information on that thread, some relating to the price of a bolt like you asked, and some just expounding on "baffel the masses with so much info that they think you are highly intelligent" while referencing google.
Still an interesting read.

Thanks for the link Wormy. So pretty much it comes down to to old "quality cost money". So out off all the manufacturer's I see LMT at the top of the price list. Anybody else comparable to LMT? Oh and I'm looking for a 6.8 bolt which I know not everyone makes.

I have a few of the older JP enhanced bolts. They used to be made by Leitner-Wise, but they have recently changed. I haven't seen the new ones, but they supposedely aren't up to the previous standards JP was renowned for. I'm sure they are still fantastic bolts. That being said, I just ordered 2 BCM complete BCG's after extensive research seemed to indicate they were the best bang for the buck.

That seems like a good price from BCM but they dont offer a 6.8 bolt. LMT has an Enhanced Bolt for $155 and a complete BCG for $230. Or I can buy a Stag Bolt for $60 or a complete BCG for $130. Is the LMT worth an extra $100 over the stag?
