AR-15 Build - Help me pick out parts

I've got the original Magpul M93B. That one's a knockoff from Falcon/Ergo that Magpul sold the rights to. The design is a little bit different.

The only thing I don't like about mine is the butt is a little wide. Other than that, it was the best damn collapsible stock until the UBR came around.

From what I understand - something happened and Ergo was actually making the stock (from Magpul's specs) before Magpul quit - for some reason Magpul decided to let Ergo produce the stock with their specs (I'm sure they bought all the design). So basically it is the exact same as the Magpul M93 just with a different manufacturers name on it. The good part about it - you can get it at a fraction of the cost.

Ergo F93 - Ebay - 96.75

It's not the same. The big round molded part for the latch has two screws in it on mine, and the buffer tube attachment is very different. Mine uses shims and two clevises that you have to roll all together as it tightens up, as opposed to the standard endplate and castle nut.

But those are just differences, so I think it's probably still a good stock!

Just a warning though, if you sling up across the chest with that endplate, it's gonna dig into your sternum!

Ahh gotcha - I guess what I read didn't quite know what they were talking about - for 95 bucks I'm gonna give one a try - I really like it - just hope its not a piece of junk...

Nice choice. I am going to be shooting one of those on my new LOKI rifle. The other option is the ACE SOCOM or the standard ARFX. Both are nice rugged and tacticool looking.

You gotta tear that mil spec lower parts kit out and get a nice Ergo Grip or similar and a JP trigger.

You will want rifle length gas which means an 18" barrel with a lightweight profile. Don't go cheap on the barrel its the most important part behind the good trigger. Look at Satern Barrels for a sweet custom cut barrel.

I like the 15" handguards. My LOKI will have the long and lightweight ATI 8 sided tube.
I am running a VTAC on my JP but I am looking for a PRI 15" carbon fiber right now. to shave some weight.

Get a Rolling Thunder comp from Triangle shooting sports to round out the barrel.

THe best BCG out there is the lightweight JP stuff IMO. The low mass combined with a big comp makes the recoil go bye, bye.

Let's go shoot my JP and you will see what I mean.

I ordered the stock last night - Jesse - I will be counting on you to help me build this out. Lets go shoot your rifle and we can start pricing the parts that I will need - maybe if I can sell my glock 17 (now you see why) I can buy a few more parts for my AR

I might have a really nice VTAC FF tube for sale later this week.

I ordered a battlecomp. Will be here next week. Supposed to be the new best thing. Kinda like the KAC TT but 1/4 of the cost.

Have you tried the SJC or Rolling Thunder? The top competitive shooters use one of the other.

Ya that's the one Brandon. If you like them on Fcebook there is a bunch of full auto vids. It looks prett impressive.

Jesse I haven't shot either of those but I've been around them and I hate it. The noise and concussion is really too much. I know it's not supposed to be as bad behind the gun shooting it but really I don't care. I had a PWS DNTC on my rifle for a week and the noise and concussion was terrible, even when shooting. Battlecomp claims the concussion is mild. I guess I'm sensitive so I'll let y'all know what I think when I get it.

I guess I don't notice because I am shooting so fast. :welcome:

elephant dung here we go!

No I probably don't notice either except when I shoot at a range sighting in or something. If the BattleComp performs like it does and its supposed to, without being too damn loud, I'll be happy.

Yea other than the fact that I had to do a little mod'ing to the stock and messed up a detent spring LOL

I wasn't happy when I screwed the stock in how little it caught the buffer detent - so in order to give it another twist I had to file a tad off the metal that holds the detent down.

After that - there wasn't a whole lot of room for my finger to hold the take down detent and I went the wrong way with the metal bushing on the back and well messed up the spring - I should have used a razor blade to hold down the spring while tightening the stock - oh well live and learn - 2 springs are on the way at 65 cents each - I just wanted to play this weekend....
