AR 15 AK 47/74 Information

Pops tells me that Frost knows all about these weapons. Live in Charlotte and starting my reasearch and any help would be appreciated from anyone. If only going to buy one, which would be the best for range time and personal protection and why.

For range plinking both are good candidates. The AR has a lot of accessories were as the AK not so much. Both are fun to shoot weather it be competition or just for fun however personally there are a lot more options for personal protection or home defense.

Try to shoot both and figure out which one you like. Buy the one you like and you cant go wrong. If you like them both get both.

I would not pretend to be an expert but I will be glad to help all I can.

Inexpensive magazines are available for both.
Ammunition is readily available for both.
7.62x39 is definitely cheaper than .556.

Prices for a AK start at about $350
Prices for an AR start at about $700 (y'all correct me if I am wrong)

Ask yourself this question.
Which do I THINK I would like better.

I can get 223 cheaper than 7.62X39 but it varies quite a bit.

ar15.com has two complete sections for both guns and more information in extreme detail than you can read in an entire year about ammo, parts, optics, and every other damn thing about firearms.

build one with a kit...$465 for all parts minus lower receiver. You have some drop down menus to dress these anyway you like but for more money. Shipping was $22 to my house.

Lower for $88...add shipping and transfer fees for another $30 or so depending on your FFL01. Then just fill out the 4473 and pay your FFL01 the transfer fee. Go home and build it up.

Brownells has a nice tutorial online for the complete build. Takes about 30 minutes.

This is the way I have gone for my three AR15 rifles. Very happy with all parts and service from both companies. Other modifications were purchased from Impact Guns as I have a need for YHM parts such as BUIS, rails and suppressors.
