Like the title says I have a 4.5" Springfield Armory XD-M .45 ACP I am debating trading or selling. It's solid black, low round count (less than 400 rds), and will come with either two or three 13 round mags. What would be a reasonable asking price?

I've bought two XDM's used...

The first was a compact 3.8" .45 with 20 rounds through it. Guy only had it about a month. I got it for $455.

The second was a XDM-40 4.5" with about 200 rounds through it. I bought it...500 rounds of ammo...5 mags...bore snake...snap caps...and an ammo can.....all for $500.

Maybe you can judge your price off of those.

I'd say you got the better ends of both deals. $600-$650 brand new depending on regular vs night sights. Price points can also reflect on how quickly a seller needs money. If it means taking $200 off ($100 in price tag and $100 in accessories) it'd be more beneficial just to keep it. I'm not trying to make money off the deal by any means but I'm not losing my ass on it. Sounds like the 2nd deal the guy was selling his whole .40 cal set up because he didn't like it or something.

I think you'd be able to sell it at anything under $500.

I think if you use it in trade (like, in addition to cash) you could price it at $525 - $550.

I just traded a $550 pistol for an $850 upper because I found a guy that 1) bought the thing over a year ago & never shot it and 2) has been trying to sell it for the past six months.

Find something you want that has been languishing for sale/trade for a few weeks or months and see what happens. I had at least 20 "No, thank you's" before I got this final "Sure! Let's trade!"

The XDM-45 i won at Auction on Gunbroker. It was a Murrel's inlet resident so I used it as an excuse to visit MB and to pick it up in person to save shipping and transfer fees.

Anyhoo...The 4.5" XDM-45 sells for $560 free shipping at Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore. Which makes it $580 after $20 transfer at HHB. They are a legitimate website. I recently bought my M&P shield from them and a good friend has bought two XDM's from them.

Asking anything more than the lower of the best online price plus shipping and transfer or the best local price for items that are not made of unobtanium (Keltec PMR, KSG, etc.) will get you labeled as a panic gouger by many. But I would try to start just under that lowest price and see if you get a response. Or you could put it on GunBroker, but don't forget to account for S&H and transfer through an FFL -- probably better if you had one of those rare or hard to get items. Just don't make the mistake of coming up with your asking price based on what you have seen others asking on Armslist.

Well of course not. Used ones on Armslist are more expensive than brand new ones. I also don't want to sell a gun to someone who subscribes to that same principle of marking up when they're selling...because they will try to lowball me to death. I think a $200 mark down (including magazines and ammo) is a little low.
