Who's got one? How do you go about it as far as BATFE forms and how long is the turnaround? I don't really know much about this as you can tell, so please...any info is good info and pictures are great!

it is my belief that when you buy a shotgun that comes from the factory with a pistol grip you can form 1 it and it will be an AOW and the tax is $5. im not sure if you can put a stock on it, but why not?

mosburg sells them with a pistol grip. ive seen them at Academy.

form one is just like any other, at least 6 months.

It is a form 1 to make an AOW. Any form 1 without an SOT is $200. Period.
The transfer of an AOW on a form 4 is $5.

You cannot legally put a stock on an AOW pistol grip shotgun. That would make it an SBS.

Wait time is as long as any other Form 1/4 :(
6 to 9 months

If you want an AOW shotgun your best bet would be to transfer one from a dealer. Cheaper that way.

If you are making the gun then you should make it a "Short Barrel Shotgun" and not an "Any Other Weapon."

As stated above, the cost is identical, at $200. The wait time and paperwork is identical.

The difference is that on an SBS you can add or subtract a buttstock at will. On an AOW the addition of a buttstock will constitute a violation of the 1934 National Firearms Act and will be a felony.

For example, my Short Barrel Shotgun (Remington 870):
