Anyone have tattoos?
Are you obsessed?
Can’t go too long without a session?
I have a few and they mean a lot to me, my love of country, my internal animal!

All my favorite, I don’t get one unless it’s deeply important to me! I got my first one (tiger) when I turned 40 as I’ve always wanted that one! I’ve always felt it was my soul animal! I love my country and want everyone to know.

Never had the desire. I've seen some I like, though. I think you did it the right way, waiting until you were sure and putting some thought into what you really wanted rather than jumping in like a drunk college kid on spring break and regretting it later.

I have one and only one from 1983.

I remember having a few drinks at the "Salty Dog Saloon" in Buffalo, NY back when I was in the Coast Guard. Next door or on that same block, was a tattoo parlor. I wandered in, and met with a lady tattoo artist. She asked what I would like and I said, "I don't know". We made small talk, talking about this and that, and one thing led to another, and I mentioned that my zodiac sign is Aries. She went to her templates and photos and guides or whatever, and couldn't quite find a Big Horn Ram (Aries) template that she or I liked. So, she actually used a photo from a National Geographic magazine and took part of the head of a Big Horn Ram and traced it out on my upper arm with a ballpoint pen. It looked beautiful, so I told her "Go for it", so she easily outlined the image with her tattoo machine. $60 bucks, as it was an original design, never done before, and that was it. It's permanent! I'll try to get a photo of it (all these years later) on my upper arm....

I wonder if anyone with tatts ever stops to think that many, many people find tatts to be offensive (disgusting) to look at, and wish you "wearers" would cover them up in public. This is why many companies outlaw the display of them in an office (professional) setting with dress standards. You want one? Fine. Keep it covered or go work in a circus. You want a job at our company where the tatt is still visible on your neck or hands or legs? Too bad. Not hired. Same with piercings. Baboonbobo: God made you in his image, I'm assuming God doesn't have or need tattoos. Lets keep this topic out of the 1911 forums, shall we? It's out of place.

That is your opinion and actually quite rude of you. You don’t like them or want to discuss them then that’s fine. It’s simple, just ignore this thread! We are just trying to bring about more subjects and get people talking. Once again you don’t have to agree but telling people what they can and can’t discuss is what the leftist do! Our way or the highway!!
Don’t think that’s the ideas of free speech!

Oh and by the way I put 30 years of thought into getting tattoos! My choice not yours and I don’t live my life worried about some puss being offended!

don't like needles, dont think I could do it.
They hurt, don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. My wife hairs needles to but she has a few small ones nothing bigger than 3x3
I will sit for up to 10-12 hrs without a break as long as my artists hands hold out I can sit!!

@Whit

It's okay... Seriously. It's not a shot or IV needle. Tattoo equipment is 100% sanitized and very very tiny, all housed in a handheld paint gun type of device.

Truth... Honest to God, truth... I swear on my mother's grave...
The main outline: Okay, yeah, this can be a little tender and can hurt, and feels like a cat scratch. But then, it's okay and manageable. I don't know of anyone screaming and crying, "OMG... It hurts, it hurts... STOP!!" and they end up bawling like a little girl. It's not at all like that. It's more of an annoyance than anything. Outline = 1 or 2 teeny tiny needles are used.
Shading/coloring in: This doesn't hurt at all, compared to the outline. This part of a tattoo is a piece of cake, and feels like someone is just rubbing your arm with an emery board, like your wife uses to file her nails, or maybe a piece of 150grit sandpaper. No pain at all. Shading/Coloring = 6 teeny tiny needles all side by side in a row.

How do I know this? I have a very good friend of mine who actually is a real, professionally licensed, tattoo artist. He keeps bugging me to get my right arm done, since I only have the Big Horn Ram (zodiac sign - Aries) on my upper left arm.

Information is correct and accurate for the most part. Never, I mean never go to a hack, hire a good reputable artist with sign in the window and a book of work to look at.
Mine is great and one of the best in the area, started with a hole in the wall shop and now has a beautiful shop in a great area!!

Unfortunately though everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Upper arm is the easiest and least painful area to get done. Boney areas like wrist, elbow, and sensitive areas like around nipples and edges of the arm pit are bad too and I can handle a lot but I would never tell someone they don’t hurt! If they think that then start one and it does hurt too much they’re gonna be in trouble. I’ve seen people walk out with just a partial outline done and never finish it.
I would rather they get it done snd say it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be. Removal hurts even more so be sure what your doing.

During one of my sessions a girl came in to add about a 1.5” size star and had a friend with her to hold her hand while she got it and she screamed the whole time! This was her fourth star in a grouping of six she wants done! My artists (whom owns the shop) said each visit is like that and she can only handle one at a time!!!

Ever wonder if tats are dangerous? I would think as long as mankind has been decorating their bodies. we could kinda guess.
I have seen every manor of tattooing done by indigenous people & colors you could only imagine. They weren't dropping over dead.

Yep putting anything into your body could be dangerous! So could not doing anything to your body!
Family friend lived the straightest cleanest life you would want and his body was riddled with cancer when he died! My dad died from cancer two years ago, not a single tattoo or mark of any kind, didn’t matter! Brother in law was the same way, clean life, good guy never even said a curse word, watched him suffer and die from skin cancer!

Your gonna die somehow and everything can cause cancer so I say screw it!

I believe smoking Tobacco can lead to cancer because we see that in less then 100 years. Yet with all the centuries we have evidence that says body coloring does not cause cancer. As is always the way of the universe : You begin to die the second you are born  yep it's tru at any second a sky rock could end your life.

Some of us have risked death or injury just shooting a firearm, anytime that new load you thought was Unique turns out to be Bullseye & boom no head.
When I look back at what I put my body through for 69 years it amazes me I'm still here at all. Funny how no matter how bad or good you are, you are gonna die.

I just lost my brother in law this week from ALS. It took less than 4 years to eat the life out of him. He was not into guns but I know what I would do long before
what it did to him, did 2 me. There are some very bad ways to die for sure. To bad, ol Mike should have checked it, before he tried to Clean it.

Lost another family member to cancer last night at 7:30! My uncle David, he was my dads younger brother (58) got sick and went down hill and died in less than 4 months. Lung cancer this time although David was a very heavy smoker for all those years and kind of the troubled one of the family in his younger days. Never really got along with him until the last decade or so he had really tried to turn his life around. Until then it would have made a really messed up episode of the Jerry Springer show!

He makes six January’s in a row we lost a family member!

2016 BIL Brian (mom used to babysit him)
2017 Step Dad William
2018 MIL Bernie
2019 Dad Robert
2020 FIL Richard
2021 Uncle RIP David
