I go back and forth between the saiga and just getting an upper to use until I can dedicate the time to work on my build.

The price looks nice and it's 18in

It has to be good they even have these at sears!

Aren't you like 95% with ur upper? DOn't you almost have everything you need? Why spend $500 when for that much you can have yours FINISHED!?!?!

I need these items to complete my upper

Bolt/Carrier
Barrel
Gas block/tube
Hand Guards
Front sight (still not sure about how I want to do this)
Charge Handle
Fwd assist

Then to finish the rifle - JP Trigger and Low Mass Buffer and any minor tweaks or changes for fit and function.

:(

I have used some CMMG uppers in the past, my first AR was a CMMG, and two of my uncles have CMMG uppers that I got for them. Never had any problems with them, but if you have most of the stuff to do your own I would go that route. they aren't difficult to put together and sure someone would be glad to help you.

just saw your list, I would still just get the stuff and do it yourself.

If those PSA's were in stock I'd have one.

I want it to perfect when I build it. Plus a secondary factory built upper can give me some comparison and I can test parts between them to see how different results can vary.

And some of the parts to build the upper may take a while to get from the vendor too.

These are BBLs they have a 22in as well

If you go with a JP low mass carrier, you won't be needing the fwd assist. The JP LOMS carriers have the area where the fwd assist notches go removed. You just plug the hole in the receiver.

With the exception of the barrel & bolt, for the parts listed you're looking at around $360 including adj. gas block & JP LOMS carrier

The link didnt have an add to cart button - how can I buy it, I want it!!. Correction - site is not its friendly - found button and in cart - boom!

That 20" will be just fine for you.

Add a free float handguard (like the excellent $70 DPMS carbon fiber), a comp, and file that front sight post down...and you're ready to roll. When you get it stop by my place and we'll switch it out.

The other stuff (LMOS, etc.) is an advantage, but not a HUGE advantage. Comp and free float are must-haves.

Plus you can sell your stripped upper and get your money back whenever.

I'm still thinking about building one - no way to keep the post and still change the hand guards? Comp is a definite

Yeah, use a 12" handguard.

By "file that front sight post down" I mean making the actual sight post smaller so you can aim smaller, silly!

They have changed the sight a bit but it is about the same price

I will need someone to direct me to the most accepted and thorough method to clean and oil an AR. Only because I've been spoiled with my AK, you rarely have to clean or oil them.

This is what I found - It looks good - did he miss anything?
