Any PSA Black Friday Orders Showing Up Yet?

Hey guys and gals,
I recently started my first AR build. I was shopping around for an upper and PSA had a slammin' deal on theirs during the Black Friday weekend so I ordered one. Did anyone else order from them during the big sale weekend? If so, any word on the status of your order? Just wondering if any of the uppers or completed rifles have started rolling out yet. My status just says Processing when I try and view it online.

Gettin' a little anxious. :D

Best,
Matthew

Good luck with that. I've had terrible experience with getting shipments as promised from PSA, even after they said "shipped." Stay on top of them!

I changed my order from UPS Ground to in-store pickup since I'm just over in Sumter. It's been 15 business days (20 calendar days) so it should be ready anytime now. UPS is horrible about shipping... It takes roughly 3 business days to go from Cola to Sumter (I can make the drive in 35 minutes, go figure). I was hoping to maybe shave a few days off the wait time by going to get it myself.

I emailed them yesterday to see about getting a status update on the order, but haven't heard back yet. When I emailed they immediately replied with a generic statement about giving them 2 business days to reply. Hoping I'll hear something back on Monday. Looking at their website today, I saw the following message:

Due to the election results, holiday shopping and current events, order volume is at never before seen levels. We are working as fast as we can to process your orders. Please allow up to 15 business days for your order to ship. At this time additional time will be required if your order is to be shipped to an FFL.

I'm going to give it another week or so and then I'll drive over and talk to them in-person to see what the scoop is. I'm not in a huge rush to get the upper I ordered, but I do have everything I need to complete the build exactly how I want it (for now... because we all know these things change) so I'd like to get the upper and get her all put together.

Such is life. I'll stay on top of them and keep this thread updated with any info I get.

I got my BCG parts Thursday . Not super fast but these are spares so wasn't worried about speed. I'd rather and usually do buy elsewhere. The prices were too good to pass up.

That's sort of how I feel. My parents ordered my upper for me for Christmas. It's their M4 StrikeFire upper with the Vortex StrikeFire Red Dot. For $350, you can't really beat it, even with an extended wait time.

Plus, I had budgeted about $700 for my first AR build. Now that the upper has been taken care of, it opened up more money for add-ons and extras that I would have had to forego before (Magpul Furniture, Magazines, Sling, etc.). Beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Still would love it if I could get it in the next week so that I'll have it to play with during my time off work for the holidays...

You listenin' PSA!? :D Haha.

Depending where something is coming from, UPS is pretty fast even on ground delivery. If it is going up and down the coast and eastern part of the USA, it usually takes no more than 2 - 3 days. From the west it is 4 - 5 days at most. The real holdup may be the companies themselves.

You're right, but I ordered some stuff from a Columbia store over the summer (not gun stuff, something else) and it was shipped on a Monday, sat in West Columbia Tuesday and Wednesday, according to tracking info, and was delivered about 8pm on Thursday. Pretty unacceptable for a 45-minute drive. I actually didn't realize the company I was buying from was in Columbia or I would have purchased it directly from them (and have since).

I definitely think that PSA needs to better prepare for big sales. So far, I'm happy with their communication when I have emailed them and I'm happy with all of the products I've purchased from them, but pre-building a certain number of items wouldn't hurt. It's not like they won't sell eventually.

Also, a better order tracking system should be in place. My order has said "Processing" for 20 days. I think it should go something like this:

1. Processing (This is right after you place the order before your order is received in the system and your card is being charged.)
2. Acceptance (This is after your card has been charged and your order is in the system.)
3. Assembly (This is for full guns and uppers that require assembly.)
4. Testing (This is for full guns and uppers that require testing.)
5. Preparing for Shipment (This is after assembly/testing is complete or after the order has been pulled from the warehouse and is being packaged for shipment.)
6. Shipped (Obviously, this is after the item has left the warehouse and a tracking number is provided.)

Adding in specific status updates such as "Backorder" or "On Order" or "Awaiting Payment" would aid in determining cause for delay.

Putting a system in place such as this would give people an idea of where their order stands. Especially on the build-to-order items. It would also cut down on generic email traffic ("Where's my order?" "When will my order ship?" "What's your eta for .308 uppers from the sale 6 weeks ago?") as well as phone inquiries.

I realize that PSA is growing and they're offering great products at unbelievable prices, but they need to initiate a stronger, more information-based infrastructure.

Just my two cents...

Same state UPS delivery took that long??? Something seriously wrong there, that's for certain! You should get it the very next day, no excuses for UPS to screw the pooch on that. Unless there is some kind of different procedures for shipping firearms related stuff, perhaps- anyone know about that? I will have to grill a UPS driver I know about this tomorrow!

I order from Midway and Brownells too much. If I order on Monday before noon, I get a "shipped" email by the afternoon. I get the package by Wed. afternoon or thurs noon. It is not the distance that is the problem.

Wonder if it has something to do with the W. Columbia UPS center or something. I've had packages get hung up there before. I once ordered something from a camera store in NY (B&H Photo). It had an expected delivery on Friday. Per the tracking, it arrived in W. Columbia on a Tuesday. I still didn't get the item until Friday. They literally held it at the W. Columbia facility for 3 more days. I even called UPS to ask them about driving over and picking it up and they wouldn't let me.

And don't get me started on UPS Innovations, which is quite possibly the LEAST innovative concept I've ever witnessed in my life.

This has nothing to do with PSA, though. It's a UPS thing. I do wish PSA would do something differently with their order tracking process.

just grilled a UPS driver. in state, parts of Georgia and NC ground packages are guaranteed delivery the next day. it has nothing to do with being an upper or gun.

id say look to PSA not telling you the correct time it was shipped. when you call to check on an order ask them for a tracking number. if they cant give you a tracking number then they have not shipped it. even if they give you a number you should go to UPS.com and check on the status. they can put a number on it but that does not mean the driver has the package. you will see "package has not been recieved into the UPS system."

grilling a UPS driver again.

she said well i wont repeat what she said, not that its dirty, i just dont want to get between you and UPS Innovations.

i would ask, was it a signature required delivery?
were you home to accept?
when you called to pick it up did they tell you it was on the truck for a re delivery the next day?

walk a mile in their shoes.

I spoke with PSA this morning and he said, "Those will be shipping out in the next day or two." I had them change mine to in-store pickup (as I already said) so hopefully I'll get a phone call in the next day or two. I'll keep you guys posted.

The order I referenced earlier was not a PSA order. It was from a stationery company (I ordered some papers and inks). They were located in Columbia and it took 3 days to get my order. The tracking for that particular order (I remember because I called UPS and talked to them when it didn't move after a day) said that it had been received and was at the W. Columbia facility and whatever else the details were on the tracking site.

It wasn't a signature required delivery because I wasn't home and they left it on the doorstep. When I called to see about picking it up they said that I could only pick it up once a delivery attempt had been made. It quite literally sat at the W. Columbia sort facility for 3 days. Not moving. Not on a truck. Not awaiting pickup. Just sitting. My guess is that the item got scanned in and then was misplaced and never scanned out of the facility until it actually made it on a truck. I would bet any amount of money they had lost my item at the sort facility and then recovered it a few days later.

I don't hate UPS, but they're not my first option (I like FedEx).

Anyway... that's neither here nor there.

PSA is starting to ship orders from a few weeks ago so that's a good thing. If anyone else is receiving orders from them, keep us posted on timelines.

I ordered a stripped upper during Black Friday (along with another part that did not require assembly from PSA). I also requested in-store pickup.

Order still shows onlne as "processing". No idea when it will be ready. Of course, PSA and everyone else is out of bolt carrier groups so it won't do me much good to get the upper right now (OK I do have some friends who would lend me a BCG).

I noticed that the "AR-15 Days of Christmas" uppers on PSA's website were advertised "ships within 3 business days". Does that mean that customers who ordered during Black Friday (or thereabouts), expecting their uppers to be built and shipped on the usual turnaround, were put on hold so that PSA could prioritize the "three day" Christmas orders? That doesn't seem like good customer service.

I saw that, too... Kind of made me wonder if I was being put on the back burner for this 3-day promise as well. I'm thinking that those uppers were ones that were already built and may have been back stock. They weren't the same uppers as the Black Friday Uppers that sold with or without the Vortex StrikeFire. I'm guessing they just had several of the "Christmas" ones on-hand and sold them out fairly quickly. They're not available now, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt...

Hope they don't make a fool of me.

Have you checked with BCM for a BCG? That's where I got mine.

I was in the Farrow store today and hear some lady in there who was talking to a customer about shipping...I swear I heard her saying orders from the 5th were shipping today and tracking numbers should have gone out. However, I ordered a parts kit and some stuff on the 5th, and I didn't have tracking info waiting on me when I got home...

I know they're busy. I'm not sweating it. I have all the pieces/parts I need (except ammo...can never have enough).

I felt bad for the staff. They had 5-6 people working in there, and when they opened at 10 this morning, both parking lots were FULL of people waiting on them to open. They were swamped. I got the last stripped lower they had today. There was a guy in there who never owned a pistol getting pointers and holding gun after gun keeping one of the employees totally cut off from the store. I know it's his job but they really needed the man power else where and the info the guy was asking was borderline handgun training for a beginner's class.
