Any one ever tried to use a crowd funding website?

I have a few ideas on some prototypes of tactical gear and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with crowd funding websites? Before any one jumps down my throat about the proper ATF paperwork, let me say I have worked close with the ATF and have the neccessary paperwork but I do need help on funding some of these ideas. Now its my understanding that these websites offer basically donated money from people who are interested in me getting my project out to the masses. I found a website called Guardianlender.com that allows tactical projects but its brand new and has no reviews. I figure its worth a shot? Unless you guys have any educated opinions!

I'm waiting on a kickstarter flashlight project that I paid for several months ago. Seems decent from the funding end. Don't know about from the developer end.

Use IndieGoGo. They don't have an acceptance policy. Anyone can start a fund raising campaign and they even have the option for you to receive the money donated even if it doesn't reach goal (at a higher fee rate though.)

I've personally used IndieGogo to raise money, so it's legit and works. Be sure you have everything squared away (bank account connected or a premiere business paypal account linked to a bank acount) before starting. You will not be able to get funds or possibly start a fund raiser without this.

Unfortunately, IndieGoGo does not allow firearms related projects, either... (Since you mentioned ATF paperwork, I'm guessing your gear is regulated by law)

  4. Stocks, bonds or other securities, real estate, insurance or banking or financial services
  5. Guns, ammunition, firearms, knives, weapons or accessories regulated by law
  6. Items promoting hate, personal injury, death, damage or destruction to property
