Any 1911 fans here?

I'm a huge fan of the 1911. Especially now there are models for every price range.
The ATI 1911's aren't bad for the price especially if you just want to say you have a 1911.

Like your first car, your first 1911 will always be special. However my tastes have been elevated as of late. I've been eyeing some of the higher end models.
I like the Wilson Combat, Nighthawks and a few others.

1911's will always have a special place with me. When I was in maybe in the 3rd grade, I kept begging my dad who was a LEO to take me shooting. SO he did and the first gun he let me shoot was his 1911 Colt Combat Commander that the guys who worked for him had given him. His idea was that the big Colt would discourage me ... it didn't. Just the opposite. My father gave that to me some years ago and I had the late great Austin Behlert do his magic on it.

One that I sold that I wish I had back was Colt National Match that Frank Pachmayr did for me. As all his work, it was an amazing gun.

A few months ago, I was all set to buy a Dan Wesson "Valor" in 9mm when I saw a CMMG Banshee. Have to say that I almost wish I had bought the Valor. Can't go to the range without the Banshee to shoot and every time I take it out I can't help but to run a couple hundred rounds through it.

I borrowed my Dad's pre A1 Colt 1911 for an indoor match in Edmond in 2011. After the match, BBC reported the death of UBL in Abbottabad Pakistan.
I've not shot it since.

I like the WWI 1911's best. Those Doug Turnbull creations are looking pretty good. There goes my casino money again.

Was the match at heartland? Only asking because I was at a match there, when I learned of his death

The first centerfire handgun I ever fired was a 1911 in the Army and I've had a fondness for them ever since.

I currently own four 5" stainless 1911's in 45 ACP and weather permitting I go to the outdoor range a minimum of once a week and fire 100 rounds through one or the other at the 25 yd. steel gongs.......I'm not much of a paper puncher kinda guy.

I have a Remington R1-S......Springfield Armory Mil-Spec.....Ruger SR1911 and a S & W 1911E.

I've been ask which one of the four I like the best and I always truthfully reply.......I don't have a favorite and that I like them all equally.

I actually hated 1911's after having to qualify with mine in the Army. It was so worn out that I was surprised it held together.
On a whim a several years back when Kimber was making one off pistols that were fitted, I bought a Stainless stalker in .45 acp that I fell in love with. Shot it in USPSA competitions for several years. It never failed me.

I'd be willing to bet that you'll like the 1911E.....I really like mine.

The only issue I have with mine is that the bullets impact about 3" high at 25 yds. when I hold on the center of the target......I could get a tad taller front sight or modify my load to change the impact but instead I just hold at 6 o'clock and all is well.

I only have two 1911's.
A Colt Gold Cup Match in 45 Caliber and a Springfield Range Officer. Both of these are sweet shooters and dead on accurate.
Also have a SIg 1911 in 22LR. I'm going to compare this one to my new Glock 44 tomorrow.

I am a big fan of the 1911 and have more than a few in my collection. My favorite would be a 70 series Goldcup but the most accurate would be my LesBear that is guaranteed 1.5" at 50yd. enjoy you 1911

The first pistol I ever shot was a friend's Colt Gold Cup. I have loved 1911's ever since. I have a Para Black Ops single stack and a Kimber Custom Target.

So. Hypothetically speaking.
What if the Browning hi power came out before the 1911.... would there still be a cult following of the 1911??
I think in that instance, the 1911 would be quickly overlooked due to the round count and it would've been d.o.a.

I had a 1911 once. 45acp officer model, STI Gaurdian, got tired of having to reload after 7 rounds and I didn't really care for 45acp. It sure was a pretty gun though.

Oh hell no! The 9mm will take down elephants and will shoot down aircraft at 30,000 feet if you listen to the fanboys because it improved in its technology!
So let's think this through......if a bullet manufacturer found a new design for a bullet, would they only put that new design into only the 9mm to make it the miracle bullet or would they put that new design into their entire lineup of bullets to include .357, .40, .45?
Of course they would.
Just my opinion after shooting competition for many years, a lot of your run of the mill LEO are not gun people. They shoot to qualify and the added capacity of the 9mm makes up for a lighter ammo budget for the agency involved and the lack of range practice for the average LEO.
Contrary to the myth of a .45 blowing off a limb with a marginal hit, it has served our military well over the years with untold casualties using ball ammo.
I also think IMHO some of the folks just couldn't handle the recoil of the .40.
My wife prefers shooting my 1911 in .45 acp over her 9mm because the recoil impulse is much softer.
