Scored another defensive shotgun I've been waiting for last night. Mossberg 930 Thunder Ranch. Designed for close quarters work. But a bunch of ways to customize it for your liking. I like the camo scheme on it. The breecher is more of a cosmetic thing for me though. Just looks cool. Got to keep that stimulus $$$ going to a good cause. :p

I like all my Mossbergs but this one is right on target. :D
Great score.

My 2, 500 Mossys sure don't look like this WOW!!!

I'll give you all a range repot on the T/R Mossy 930 in couple of weeks. See if it lives up to the good reviews I have seen. Why? Becuse I don't take it for the real thing in magazines. 1/2 of them are just plugs & advertisements. Read the article and 2 pages later there is an advertisement for the same exact thing. We will see, I hope it's a Hammer!

Mossberg is junk they said. Remember Win or Rem, but not cheap ol Mossberg..
Some shotguns like Rem Mod 1100 & Ithaca Mod 37s come with slick actions from the factories.

Both my Mossberg 500s were inesxpensive & had rough actions from brand new.
The owner of the LGS I got them from knew I worked on guns & asked me if I deflashed
my Model 500s. What do you mean Deflash them?

Tear down, clean ( Brake Spray) then with the small Dremel carbide burrs remove all flash
& large seems that keep the action parts from running smoothly together. Flash is leftover
& not removed to keep cost down. You can finish the job & have a slick Shootie sooner
& cheaper than shooting Round$.

Other than that hold trigger back & pump like the Ithaca Mod 37 has both my Mossbergs run smoothly
& feel like they both have been hunted & shot a lot. 20 minutes of flash metal removal
is well worth the time & anyone with a Dremel & small burrs can do this. Really they are both like new
7 rds & an 18.5" bbl do not make for great quail hunting :D

Any of the old Remington's are great.
I have a newer 870 express, lets just say it's not so great. The Ithaca 37 is an awesome shotgun. I recently pick up a Mossberg 590 ATI , seems extremely well built, so far no issues at all. The action is very smooth. It works for me. You can never have to many shotguns .

I guess they don't make the model I bought some years back. It is just like the 930 TR but has an extended magazine (and the barrel standoff) but is all black. I have shot many hundreds of rounds through it and it runs flawlessly. I also have a 24" barrel and a longer magazine extension that I put on and use for 3 gun. Runs fast and with the opened up loading port and welded up lifter, I can reload as fast as anyone. What's not to like...........
TR

You guys talking about Ithaca m37 got me to remembering the m37 , 16ga, I bought brand new as a kid in 1963 from baling money. I've shot a lot of birds and rabbits with that old gun. Snakes too. It has never left my watch, I keep it cleaned and oiled in my safe. Lots of memories of hunting with my Family,

My #1 here is an FN SLP not the blue one almost 8-10 years of 100% operation it was hard decision to choose one from 3 gun to home use #1
