Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to go ahead and get the word out that this months match will be an all steel match. Yes! you read that correctly an all steel match! We counted all of our steel that we have available and between the 5 texas stars, 5 plate racks, 1 Irish star, a bunch of USP and pepper poppers and 80 something falling plates we have over 200 pieces of falling steel targets. We have not picked out stages as of yet but we do plan to have several par time stages and several normal stages where you shoot till your done or you run out of bullets and a classifier. I would plan on 150 to 180 rounds for the match but I would bring a bunch extra depending on how good you are on steel. We have been planning this for a while now but we wanted to wait until the weather cooled off some before we tried to have an all steel match. Please tell everyone you know about this match that shoots. I will try to have the match setup on Practiscore soon. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Loren

Yes sir, you can shoot PCC. We have been getting several shooters each month shooting this division.

Hello All,

Alright we picked out stages tonight and we will have 5 field courses and 1 classifier. Round count for the match will be 156 total. We will have two stages that have a par time and four stages that will be shot until you are finished. This will be a normal USPSA match with the exception there will be no paper targets, all divisions will be recongized. Match sign in will start at 9:30 am with the shooters meeting at 10. The weather looks great for this weekend so I hope to see everyone there.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Loren

This is great Loren. I didn't think you could do an all steel USPSA match. How did you pull that off?

I'm not going to say that the match is 100% legal... but since it's a level one match we have a little more freedom than if it was a level two or higher. From what I have gathered from some of our more seasoned shooters is that as long as we have at least one target per stage that can be calibrated it is a legal. We thought about having a Pro Am style of match but we decided against it for our first all steel match. Basically what that boiled down to was I really didn't want all the open shooters crying and complaining because they actually had to do some reloads. So we figured we would just let everyone shoot their normal divisions and mag capacities and hopefully have a great time. We are going to have several stages that have a par time, and determining the appropriate par time I feel is going to be the most challenging aspect of this match. I don't want it set to short to where the lower class shooters barely get any steel knocked down but it also needs to be tight enough to challenge the more skilled shooters so that they don't or barely finish.

The problem with Par times & ProAm style stages is that if the times are tight enough to challenge the more skilled shooters, the less skilled (like Brian Carl Smith) won't get many points. People don't like to go to a match where they just time out & can't shoot much.

IMHO, you shouldn't do par times. Just make timed stages with a 45-60sec max & USPSA hit factor scoring.
But, however you decide to do it, I plan to be there ;D

I agree 100%. ProAm par time stages kill newbs but I get home earlier so I'm torn.

Alright Everyone,

Stages are on the ground and ready to go. We have decided to not do the par times, so we will have 5 field courses of all steel targets and 1 all steel classifier. Match sign in will start at 9:30 and shooters meeting at 10.

Hope to see everyone on the range in the morning,

Loren
