Bought a new used m1 and recoil spring is rusted up and I'm thinking about trying a surecycle in this shotgun.... Anybody got any advice fears suggestions etc????
Well I gotta have the tube and spring and that is probably what I will get because cost. The surecycle is more or less the whole assembly in stainless steel and cost a buttload. You probably haven't heard of them because I think think a large portion of there market is waterfowlers not competitive shooters.
Oh and yes the whole assembly comes off but a couple parts are loctited and need a heat gun BUT don't get too gung-ho getting it off caz some of the new ones use nylon washers that aren't loctited and u can melt them.
I just googled it. Interesting idea. Ive had my share of rusty recoil springs too. I wonder how much it smooths out the cycling of a new gun?
You might be able to contact Perfetto Performance and see if they have a factory recoil assembly. I've bought a bunch of Benelli parts from these guys in the past.
A couple guys I duck hunt with tried them on an M1 and a SBE with no real improvement in function on new guns. I put one on a tired, old 1100 that I used for my first 3G shotgun and it was day and night improvement in speed and functionality of the action. If it wasn't so slow loading I might still be using it...
