I hoped you picked up the garbage since this is a paper target range.

I used one paper target at 100 yards all the other debris that you see was left behind by some SOB's before us.
The trash there was unbelievable. :

This makes our sport look so bad. Many others come to enjoy the outdoors and see this mess. Eventually the range may be closed. Last time I was there I asked a guy not to bring three large TVs to shoot. He said he was gonna clean it up. Seemed surprised that I said something. Glad you did your part. I've picked up my share of trash there.

That's a d-bag type of comment. None of that trash was the result of us shooting that day and further more I seldom if ever walk back to the bench empty handed after setting a target.

This is more appropriate and what I'd expect from our members here. I worked hard along with other volunteers cleaning up & rebuilding Boggy Head when it was shut down years ago and don't want to loose this facility.
Like yourself I too have prevented idiots from shooting cases of bottles, computers and other crap.

You may not like my comment, however consider this. This is posted in public and others don't care what, when, or who. No distinction was made as to what was the original target. Yes, I made an assumption. Thankfully, I was wrong. You have my apology. I have cleaned up after others and asked them to do the same. Many with unfavorable remarks made to me for asking. I know I could go out there any day and see the same thing. Choose your enemy, me, a shooter/sportsmen, or the public at large. Calling me an obscenity by way of inference. Too old to get hurt by that one. Want to make a difference? Schedule a time when the board members agree to get there before shooting to clean the place up. Take before and ofter photos. Maybe send them to the paper and let them know we care. Any takers?

You learn from your mistakes. So, am I assuming that my invitation to clean up the range will go unanswered or are you asking if my apology was accepted?

Crap!! I should have read this post before posting the Shootzenfest post.. Generally the Forum members do a trash sweep before each Shootzenfest. Many of the members I've shot with bring trash back after each cease fire and target reset. I might add the DNR range clean-up days are usually well attended by the Forum members. That being said, I would like to join others at the range Sat. after next for a little percussive therapy and a little cleaning and example setting. I'll bring the trash bags and a couple of rakes. Hope to see you all there. Carry on.

Look you're the one who painted us with a broad brush in an unflattering fashion inferring that we were responsible for the condition of the range, wrong move on your part. That said the fact that you're a member here means something to me in the sense that you are probably a good guy and we have similar values. I'm thinking your original post was simply the result of viewing the poor condition of the range, I feel the same way, all the trash and mess pisses me off too.

As far as a clean up well that's not as simple as it sounds. You need the approval of the USFS in order to shut down a public range like this. I'm sure we could make a 10 minute sweep while the range is cold but anything more is going to upset other shooters.

You are correct Clicker. I was hoping we could be early enough to make a sweep before shooting. Also carry a bag out with target checks and other opportunities. We would keep disruption to a bare minimum that way. Even if we just police our own shooting corridor, it would have an impact. Might also jumpstart some other shooters. We'll be out there and hope to see y'all, too.
