I don't like to change carry ammo after I have determined which works best in my gun. I have used the Hornady Critical Defense 115gr since it came out and have always had excellent results (reliability and accuracy). It is getting harder to find at times so I am looking around at other options in carry ammo. My only requirement is reliability but since I am shooting it through a G26 I doubt that will be an issue. A secondary concern though is availability. I would like to be able to buy it locally off the shelf.

Speer Gold Dot is available pretty regularly at H&H so that is one option that is used by quite a few people (for what thats worth)

Remington Golden Saber was always my favorite ammo when I carried .40 S&W but have no experience with it in 9mm

What say ye? Let's also talk "grainage"

I have always carried Gold Dot 124gr. I have always had 100% reliability. I pay it the highest compliment...I bet my life on it everyday.

Speer Gold Dot 124 gr. +P Short Barrel in my Walther PPS and wife's Springfield XD subcompact. Works every time, seemed like less muzzle flash than the others I tried.

All I ever carry are Speer Gold Dot 115gr +P+ (53612) or Winchester Ranger SXT 127gr +P+ (RA9TA). I don't worry about local availability. If OPS doesn't have the Ranger, I'll order the Gold Dot from ammunitiontogo.com

The Ranger-T series is good ammo in just about any loading. I tend to stay away from the Speer GD's. Its the only ammo my 3913 doesn't like. Seems they use some pretty hard primers. It works fine in my other 9MM handguns.

I have shot the Golden Saber Remingtons... a few years ago you could find them at Walmarts and other gun freindly discount sporting goods stores. Sabers have been considered reliable and were duty ammo for several Police Deptartments around the country for a long time.

Some of the experts say 124 grain bullets are the best compromise in the 9x19. I lean to the heavy bullet theory and run 147 grain bullets... My current and only 9 mm pistol feeds 147 grain bullets very well... and chokes on 115's and 124's - so I dont mind trading weight for velocity in this particular pistol.

I use golden sabres and they function great. Even tested the expansion on a deer. Friend shot a deer and we went to go get it. When we got there it jumped up so I drew my 45 and shot it. I found the bullet while skinning it. It was full expanded.

I recently switched to the Hornady CD for my glock 19, 100 rounds thru it with no issues and very accurate. I was using Golden Sabre's and they were 100% reliable, not quite as accurate in my pistol.
