5.45x39 steel core import ban

So apparently the BATFE is banning the import cheap ammo steel core 5.45x39. I read this article http://investordiscussionboard.com/boar ... now-effect Then looked to buy some and no surplus 5.45 is to be found. Bummer I was goin to build a 5.45 AR upper too.

Thanks but at that prices and then after shipping the price per round is the same as Wolf or other Non-corrosive ammo. The cheap price is what makes 7n6 desire able atleast to me. I did get lucky and bought two spam cans on Monday for $185 from PSA when I stopped by after work so after taxes I came out with 2160 rounds for $0.185 a round but the that from Classic is at $0.22 a round before shipping but thanks for sharing.

What handgun are we talking about here? Draco? Not what people commonly think of as a handgun, like the FN-57, which already has its ammo banned except soft tip. Opening up a huge can of worms... how about AR pistol builds using XM855 ammo? Then banning all FMJ like with the FN-57. So they are coming at us from both ends: hollowpoints are cop killers, steel core and FMJ are armor piercing, lead is bad for the environment.

A buddy of mine just built a 5.45 upper and after shooting it I had decide I was going to build one but now this crap is happening. It makes no sense why the 7n6 is considered AP when fire from pistol platform and a green tip is not. The price of surplus CORROSIVE 5.45x39 is absurd.
For a couple more cents, you can buy NON-CORROSIVE ammo.

Seems like the importers are doing their part in the hype and gouging.

I would love to seem 5.45x39 uppers drop.
No cheap ammo, no demand for the rifles, people will eventually drop what they have and then it will be custom only.

The same thing happened to the 7.62x25 Tokarev round.
You could pick up corrosive milsurp for 10 cpr sometimes less.
People started build uppers for them but the ammo was steel core (not AP) and importation halted.
Ammo prices skyrocketed, and existing milsurp weapons are in low demand.
