Is there any danger in using the +P 38 cal in older revolvers such as my Chiefs Special mod 36?......I have only fired it probably 20 times in all the years I have had it.

The model 36 is really not made for the plus P rounds....I wouldn't feed it a steady diet of them....

But, if you are carring the 36, it should be loaded with the +P's. If you ever had to use the gun, you want all the little gun can muster...then, if the +P power hurts the gun...you are still alive to buy another model 36...

YES! Many older .38 spcl. handguns were not designed for +p. Unless the gun is marked "For .38 spcl. +p", don't use it. Call or write the manufacturer for their recommendations.

I have several boxes of ammo that have never been opened, but the box I am using from was reloads........I looked at the base of the rounds and they were of mixed brands with a few marked with the +p.......I think these are probably standard 38 special loads made up from mixed brass.
