my brother has a 30.06 and he asked me what variable scope would be recomended for hunting this caliber, have looked at nikon buckmaster at cabela's. looking for some information

Since its going to be used for hunting, the biggest concern would be how well it performs at low light. A larger objective will help. 40mm minimum.
I like Nikon.
The Buckmaster and the monarch models have excellent light transmission.
Monarch: 99.5%
Buckmaster: 98.0%
Pathfinder: 95.0%.
There are other good scopes out there in the same price ranges. I'm only commenting on the ones I personally have experience with.
