3 Gun @ USSA Sunday January 26th

I like using 3 guns anyway you set it up, anytime...but today was a great day to be shooting. Thank you guys for putting on a fun match to go with it.

Look forward to making some more this year

3 3gun stages, 1 classifier, & 1 ProAm am type shotgun stage would be awesome.

But that said, great match guys. Thanks for the effort that went into stage planning & set up.
Too bad we had to throw out stage 5, but there were just too many issues with the targets/props.

Im good with 10 excellent stages and a classifier!

I'm not a 20 year veteran match director but here's my take on stages. First you gotta have enough to suit the number of shooters. If there's 30 shooters that means 3 squads on ten and you need 4 stages. 1 stage for each squad and a buffer stage. Gotta try to keep the stages all the same duration so you don't get backed up. If the shooters present goes up to 50 you're gonna need another stage or two and probably smaller stages to make it all work.

The bays at USSA are great cause you have so much room to spread out targets which results in shooter movement and fun. Trick is figuring out how to design stages that are as fun as today without having to set up so many walls. Hiding targets with barrels, no shoots, other targets, and fault lines is easier on the body but harder on the mind. Personally I can't do it well. It's an art like painting a picture.

The match at old fort does great with a bunch of low round count short duration stages. No matter what you setup us 3 Gun junkies will still come shoot. Tanks again for kicking ass this weekend.

Thanks to everyone that came out to the match. I know there were a few hickups and the organization on my part wasn't the best. But Its only my second match to MD, Ill get it figured out soon enough, and we will continue to make it better. Ive almost got scores ready but I need to know what division the following shooters were competing in today
Jesse
Chris Anderson
Lance
Burki
Mike Freeland

Im Pretty Sure TO is the correct answer, but I do recall someone talking about a new open gun he wanted to try out so please let me know

thanks again

Scores are up in the match results section. Hope to see everyone next month. And just like last match. Feel free to send feedback with suggestions of things you liked and didn't, and things you'd like to see in the future, this match is a work in progress but we plan on making it better each month.

I saw someone with an iPad at the match. I'd suggest trying practiscore in the near future. I'm sure 2-3 other shooters can bring their iPad too. It's easy to use and then you don't have to type scores afterwards.

Jesse, we just realized we had the IPads... Theyve been missing for a while... think next month we will use Practi score... Probably going to add online registration soon too as an option to speed up things instead of having to wait around. For those that know they will be making it ahead of time, there's no reason they cant just check in and get ready to shoot

Practi score Rules the crew over at COPS Range in Rolla MO uses it they use nooks but all the same. we have the entire match on our phones just minutes after the final shots are fired. Very Nice and no paper score sheets getting blown around or lost.

Pre registration is easy with it as well Hope it works plan to be back weather permitting. I want to shoot another Classifier also How about possible having a concession cart come around a couple times with some cold drinks and goodies, Just Sayin!!

We have the nooks... it was Friday before that was known. It will be added to the list of must dos in the future. Concession Cart... Love it thats a great Idea as well. I will see what can be done there. Thanks for the ideas... Ill take any and all of the input and try to incorporate it into a better match experience for all of us

I promise they'll be better looking than the ones driving the cart at the match this weekend.

Here is my video from the match. Damn that was fun. The stage with the run and gun shotgun was my favorite. I love shooting on the move and using every bit of those big USSA bays.
