After reading the guidelines in the Intro to 3 Gun - Thanks Jesse

How often do they change the rules, specifically when it comes to equipment?

How do you know what division to compete in? Is it determined by Handgun type, magazine capacity, caliber or Rifle Type, Capacity or Caliber or Shotgun type, mag cap

Shotguns have to be 12 Gauge? Limits on how many you can load in the tube, but no limits for magazine fed?

Are there mag size limits for Rifles or Handuns? Are you looked down upon if you bring a drum or something like that?

With some of the possible rule changes to the Production division in 2013 - I started to get a little worried, especially with my diy (imited budget equipment) - I really come out to have a good time, hang out with my buds and get in some shooting - but I don't want to offend or upset anyone by coming out with 30+ Hi-Cap Mags/Drums for my handgun/rifle or come out with something like a Saiga 12 with a 20rd drum...

Am I over thinking all of this?

worst thing that could happen if you bring the wrong equipment to my knowledge is you would have to compete in the open division. as long as your equipment is in safe working condition anyone can play (I only have experiance at the local level) so take it for what its worth.

The mag fed shotguns are as of right now relegated to open in the vast majority of matches. High plains is the only match I know of allowing them in standard, tactical, limited what have you. If I remember right most matches limit rifle drum mags to open.

Come out and play, we'll find you a division.
