North Texas Multigun Sunday 4-27. The regular top shooters took the day off so I got my first tac ops win! Thanks guys. We had a bunch of new shooters and they did a great job and had a lot of fun. Good stages and I shot my best match so far. Only a handful of penalties and I didn't go brain dead in any stage!

Jeremy puts on a good match! You guys are lucky to have the long range rifle. I haven't taken a shot past 50 yards in 5 months.

Nice shooting btw.

Thanks JT - it's the boomer jersey. Yes we are very lucky to have Jeremy and Mo as MD's and a great range to shoot on.

It was fun ringing those steels. After we were done I went back and shot another 20 rounds at the 4, 5 and 600 yard targets. Love hearing boom.............DING!

I had to endure 2 hours of PT to get my left foot working again today and the tech asked me if shooting the match was worth it, to which I answered "hell yes!"

Here are some from the last Peacemaker match. My shotgun was having some gas issues that I think I have now resolved so you will notice all to frequent stoppages. This is my second 3 gun match in 10 years.

More shotgun issues which threw off my stage plan and I advanced way too far on the clays. First shotgun shot was a slug on steel. The others that you can't see are mostly on knockdown targets past 35 yards so I had a full choke in. Four rifle targets are at something like 150, 130, 300, and 330.

I took way too long shooting the first targets which were heavily covered partials at about 75 yards. Shotgun ran on this stage but could have been faster. First shot is a slug. The one quad load I did went well.
I forgot to mention that I am really impressed by how little my rifle moves during recoil. I am running a Seekins ATC break, JP low mass carrier, JP silent capture spring, and SLR Sentry 7 adjustable gas block.

tell us about your pistol, cz?
It's a CZ Tactical Sport (TS) in 9mm. The TS is a Single Action Only and came from the factory with a trigger pull of about 1lb14oz.
It's definitely a heavy gun. I cut down the front of the frame to gain back a bit of weight until I was right up against the serial numbers but also just think it looks cool. I removed the terrible cast checkering from the front and rear of the grip, undercut the trigger guard, raised the beaver tail, and used a hand checkering file to add 20 LPI checkering to the back strap. The grips started life as some second hand blue aluminum grips that I cut down to fit the mag well and polished up to match the finish of some of the other parts.
I installed the CZ Competition hammer which reduced the trigger pull another few ounces and cleaned up the break and reset. Also installed a CZC aluminum trigger (factory is plastic), CZC large magwell, CZC 140mm base pads, and the new CZC springs and followers. It holds 23 in the magazines and has been 100% reliable.
I have a Dawson Fiber Optic Front sight on it and also put in a set of Dawson LPA cut Fiber Optic adjustable rear sights. The grip tape is evident from the picture but most interesting is likely the grip tape on the slide. As you know the slide profile of the CZs doesn't leave much room for grabbing on for racking the slide so the grip tape has significantly helped me to get a better grip on the gun for all of those empty chamber reloads. Maybe in the future I will send it off to get a slide racker installed instead.
I had planned to refinish the slide and frame but the worn look has grown on me so this is how it stays for now.
I also have a SP01 Shadow that has had a lot of work done to it and sometimes I think about just shooting that for 3 gun. The TS trigger is great but the trigger reset isn't as positive as it is on my SP01 so I find myself having to bring my finger off the trigger a bit more for fast doubles.

nice gun!!!! I like the worn look.

I think all the weight you cut off the front of the frame, you may have gained back in grip tape :D

Not my best performance, by far, but that's what I get for shooting on no sleep or food, literally. I knew better. I hit the wall after the 4th stage. Lesson learned!! It was a fun match that I highly recommend!!

3GN Western Regional State 2. Note to anyone shooting in Vegas in the future. Clean the desert dust out of your guns daily even if you bag them the entire time. My shotgun was full of sand causing the fail to extract on this stage and the bolt failed to lock back on the last round in the previous stage.

Here's my son on his 21st birthday at yesterday's NTMG match, stage 3. Notice that he only drops one shell on his last reload but when he runs dry there's two shells he picks up. I shot the stage about 5 shooters ahead of him and had a failure to feed at the exact spot where he ran dry, so my ejected round became his "match-saver"!

Here's my version of NTMG Monthly match May 25. Sorry for the grainy video but youtube wouldn't load anything of higher resolution.

Technically this was my best match so far with only 10 seconds penalties, both FTN's on the long pistol papers of stage 2. But I absolutely cratered on the shotgun stage by trying to do something in a match that I can't even do in practice - shooting the shotgun on the move. So two goals for this summer: 1. get my foot healed up so I can move confidently again, and 2. either learn to shoot the shotgun on the move (and hit the targets!) or post up and don't miss.

I did get to celebrate my son's 21st birthday by shooting the match with him, and he placed ahead of me by two spots! So a sip of Scotch and good cigar were enjoyed after the match :)
