I am truly just gauging interest right now about a 3-gun match in Stillwater, OK. Ever since I started matches I always thought a match in Stillwater would be a great place because it is not too far of a drive for anyone in Tulsa or OKC. I am talking with someone who has 4 bays right now (2 large and 2 smaller sized) one bay is 100 yd bay, there are also two 25 yd. deep pistol bays, and one 60 yd. by 80 yd. 270 degree bay. These are obviously all estimates but I can visualize four good stages in these bays. The 3-gun match would be a Sunday because that is when I am off of work and I would make it so it does not conflict with other three gun matches. So what is the interest out there?? Anyone in Stillwater want to help? Would $20.00 be a good price if it is a good match? Leave your opinions and if all goes well I might have a match for August! Thanks guys. Also if all goes well other matches might be a possibility as well.

Thanks for the input. So I am guessing the drive to Stillwater is worth it for 4 good stages. I have a bunch of stage design ideas and am going to show the owner here a stage or two which we will set up and a few local guys and I will give him an idea of a match. He has a lot of big tires, and other fun things for cover and props since he owns a construction company as well. it would be a great match and a different one from what I have been too.

We have 6 bays out to 100 yds and a 300 yd bay under construction at the Ponca range that is screaming for a 3 gun match director.
Just an option.
That sounds nice and I would be interested are there enough targets there? I have heard a lot about that range but I need to get out there and check it out. My main thing is the fact that Stillwater is right in the middle of both Tulsa, OKC and even an easy drive from Ponca City. So hopefully it would draw a lot of people and be a great fun match as well!

I'd be down for another good reason to come up to Stillwater besides the hot cowgirls at OSU. Heck I might even be able to help you guys get things started by sharing some targets and helping setup if I'm around.

$20 is a good match fee. I'd pay $25-30 actually.
Make sure you join up as a 3 Gun Nation club. The OKC guys are gonna want a place closely to shoot their classifiers.

Haha thanks guys and yea Jesse some input from guys like you is just what we need. I will look into 3GN and becoming a club once we know it will take off. Running a classifier should not be too hard. Also do you guys shoot through the winter too? I am down for shooting matches when it is cold but I didn't know if that was the norm.

We have LOTS of steel at Ponca, with more being built as we speak.
Anytime you want the nickel tour and do a little shooting as my guest, just let me know.

Thanks I will take you up on your offer someday soon, maybe we can get a match going at both places! With the club at OSU I am starting up I need a close place to shoot. That's why Stillwater is so good. I am down for winter matches! Jesse if you are ever in Stillwater or whatever let me know and I will bring you to the range that I am thinking of and you can see it and all the crazy props this man has (he also runs a construction company)

Jesse if you are ever in the Stillwater area hit me up and I will take you too the range we are looking at to use.

An update on the match that we are looking into, the owner of the range called me today and I am going out there this afternoon to talk more match stuff... So there is some interest but I would love to see more!! Let me know.

The hardest part of starting a match is having enough target stands and steel to fill four good stages. I have close to 100 knockdown Targets I could bring up. There are also good home brew options that I've seen at matches. 3-4" Angle iron cut into shotgun targets or oilfield poly pipe. Holler if you need anything.

Will do I appreciate it. I think we have a good option right now to get started because he owns a construction company as well he has A LOT of guard rail steel that we are going to shoot today with pistol and shotgun and see how it holds up. Also he does not have a problem getting people to weld or work on things once again because he owns a construction company. But I will let you know if I need anything.
