Oklahoma City Gun Club will be hosting its monthly 3 gun match at the North end of the Action Pistol range on Saturday Feb, 23rd.

Sign in starts at 9:00. Shooting to start at around 9:30.

Cost is $15 for OKC Gun Club Members
Cost is $20 for non members

There will be 5 slugs this month.

Set-up will start around 2:00 p.m. on the Friday before.

As always, if there is any doubt about weather issues that could impact the match, check the OKC Gun Club IPSC website â€" http://ipsc.okcgunclub.org

From the Match Director Kurt Miller:

Chamber flags will be required for all long guns.

For 3-gun matches, plan on 75 pistol, 75 rifle, and 50 shotshell, each and every time! Always bring 5 -10 slugs. If we need any special shotgun ammo like buckshot, that will be announced, but if you always plan on that you will be fine. We don’t usually post the stages or the round counts â€" just show up and shoot. (Note: these are the minimum ammo requirements and I personally bring 100 pistol, 100 rifle.)

New rules of the Oklahoma City Gun Club 3-Gun matches are posted on the club website:

Awesome.

The hyperlink at the bottom links back to this thread (even though it says ipsc.okcgun...) weird.

Are chamber flags going to be available for purchase or do we need to find some before hand?

Weed water string make a decent chamber flag. Just don't run it down the barrel if your guns when they are hot.

fixed........it got moved

Napa sells big tubes of graphite. Dump it in the tube liberally! That's another fine tip from KurtM!!!

So that's 75 rounds pistol, 75 rounds rifle and 50 shotsshell. Is that total for the day or each round. Sorry in advance for the dumb question.

Well I can design them anyway you want, if you want a local match that requires 600 rounds of rile, 600 rounds of pistol, and 650 rounds of birdshot not to mention 85 rounds of slug...I'm your man!! We will need artificial lighting to get done, but I can do it! If you want a 3-gun match like we have been doing, I can do that as well...just let me know what you want.....its your ammo and your time!

I'd probably throw in the towel halfway through that match.

I like your matches and appreciate the work you put into them.

shoot 'em up buddy

This will be my first time coming out and I'm really looking forward to it. I've read all your guys previous posts and I'm pretty sure I have almost everything I need, except shell caddys. How many extra shotgun rounds do you normally need to carry on you for each match ?

The biggest shotgun stage we have had is maybe 30 rounds. So having the ability to carry 30 rounds on your person is the safest bet. A good rule of thumb for all of the ammo you carry on you is to have enough to shoot the stage with just the ammo off your belt. That way if the $hit hits the fan and you miss a bunch or a mag takes a dump you can still finish the stage with the ammo from your belt. With that said most shotgun stages are 9-20 rounds so 3-4 four round caddies covers you. In the event of a huge stage you can borrow some caddys from your squad mates. We all do that frequently.
