I bought a used Police trade-in Glock 23 once. The first time I shot it, the slide locked partly open while extracting the empty brass. Couldn't open or close it AT ALL. Finally, in desperation, I put a dowel rod down the barrel and GENTLY, SLOWLY, tapped on it until the brass and slide popped free. Couldn't figure out the problem, and always after that I didn't trust the gun for reliability for self defense. Finally got rid of it and bought a new one.
