22lr qualify for CCW

Awfully nice of him to provide his poor opinion to his paying customers. I'm glad I was able to daydream for 8 hours during my permission slip course so I may have missed this nonsense.

I hope someday we can restore the right here in SC so this silly training goes away.

I totally agree but I also think that with the ability of some buying guns today that some sort of training should be mandatory and if you don't just read any post on this forum about some other members trips to the range.... I really do think that what we have could be a lot better but atleast they are getting some sort of training ..... Not all have had the benefit of good southern up bringing or a really good Marine corps up bringing !!!

I can't get down for any government required training for the simple excercise of a right. I don't need government training to blog, or be an author, or start a church, and shouldn't need it to keep and bear arms.

Even if I got past that, there are many states that require no training to carry (some OC, some CC, some both) and there is no evidence that any difference exists in the quality of the gun carrier. In fact, less than a year ago, a trainee in SC was shot by the trainer. Chalk mandatory training up -1.

REAL training is joining a club like SPSA. (Spartanburg Practical Shooting Association) i shot IPSC there for 8 years once a month and missed one match.

now they shoot IDPA and IPSC on alternating weekends. a great place to meet people and learn gun saftey and handling a weapon. no one acts" better that thou ". different weather conditions, members get a key to the gate, lots of reasons to go there.

That looks like a pretty good club and I might have been interested as its pretty close to me. I've always wanted to give IDPA a try, but I'm not eligible :(
Maintaining an NRA Membership is required of all members of SPSA

At the end of the day unless you are in a Hollywood gun fight .....if all that is going on is a mugging and you put 3 or 4 .22 lr rounds in his chest HE WILL STOP!! That crap hurts!! With some of the new .22 mag rounds they have out I think they were poking as good or better holes than .380.... Now what I want is a SMALL 5 or 6 round pistol in .17 hmr now that would make a mess!!! :D

Ever shot one of the FN 5.7x28mm pistols? .22lr recoil with small rifle ballistics. Nice price tag to boot.

well she is set and put a ruger sr22 on layaway
guess my G17 with 22 conversion was too much for her to handle, jk
She is very sensitive to recoil, just shooting 17rds of 9mm made her wrist swell

Mom is apparently going to get her CWP sometime soon, even though she's never shot before.

I'm thinking the the 22/45 LITE might be a good match for her, especially for the 'shooters first handgun' session.
Or the 1911 with suppressor on it 8-)

My sister has a similar issue, so she recently picked up the Bersa Thunder. I recommended the Sig p238, but the Thunder isn't bad if you're on a budget. Of course, .380 is more expensive than .22, but jamming isn't as much of an issue.

Happy to hear some more women folk are shooting!!!

I think you folks with wives with tender wrists need to have a professional shooting instructor look at their grips. We dealt with this a lot in the USAF - small-framed (mostly) women would complain about the M9's recoil hurting, having swelling and other issues. In almost every case there was something they were doing sub-optimally that was imparting more recoil than necessary to the wrist. Exceptions of course exist, prior RSI being an obvious one. But I've seen little tiny girls (5'0", 80# soaking wet) shoot .40s without problems when they learn to hold the gun properly for their hand size and shape.

My girlfriend, along with several others among our class of 26 used a .22 two months ago...

I took my class a year ago, the gun shop that offered the class provided Ruger Mark IIs to anyone who wanted to use them.
