Yeah I'm considering that option as well as I would at least have a warranty. Just wated to see if some one had some thing else.

Where is marlin manufactured now? The Ruger American is a good choice too. Is it worth the premium to save for a 10/22? Or a henery? I want it mainly for plinking and mabey to take squirles or small game, would really like an accurate gun out of the box for the money. Tube fed is what i shot growing up but open to other types.

If you go talk to a WalMart or other large chain, they should be able to order the plain-jane 10/22 for about $225. Well worth it - best gun I've ever owned, bar none. Well, best *guns*... I picked up one for my wife too.

Both the Rugers use the flush fit 10 round rotary magazine. I prefer that to a tubular magazine or to a box magazine that extends beyond the stock.

I hope my CZ452 is not reading this!

My first firearm was a 10/22; still have it and its a great plinker but a good bolt rifle has a charm of its own.

I'll have a Ruger 10/22 with a heavy barrel and unfinished stock to the Jamil show this weekend. Email me if you would like pics.
