2015 USPSA Limited, Open, Revolver Oklahoma Sectional

Fun match, great stages! I also enjoyed the opportunity to be an RO at this match.

The highlight of the match for me.......... Stage 2 - Okie Standards :)

The lowpoint, Stage 9, I probably now hold the record for most penalty points in an Oklahoma Sectional Match :)

The highlight for me was Steve's grin when we put the G24 back together with parts from my G35. Stage 9 sucked but at least you finished! And I'm totally not making a trophy for most penalties.

How much?

ETA: So I counted them up in practiscore. What happened on stage 9 to make that much?

Had a case failure, blew my gun apart. Blew out the magazine, extractor, extractor plunger, and left most of the brass casing in the chamber. We never did find the extractor or plunger.

With the assist of some of my squadmates and Greg's parts, I did get to finish the match.

For the record none of us have ever seen that. So if I were to have a trophy cut it would be for "craziest thing I've seen happen to a Glock".

The case head blew off, just like what happens to rifle brass. It was extremely weird.

I also have seen more than a few Glocks "blow up". Usually shooting lead or coated bullets with fast powders. Also if the brass has been through a U die a few times the case right at the web is weak and in a generously sized Glock chamber, it can and will let go with the case head departing. Now I have also seen this failure in XDMs and 2011s, but they usually contain it a bit better due to more chamber support. Far better roll sized than squashed with a U die in my opinion, but that is only worth what you all just paid for it. :)

No I don't think it is because a lead ring builds up and causes "massive" pressure, what I do think happens is a little bit of lead or coating builds up right at the mouth of the case and keeps the pistol from fully locking up and then....POP!

Great match guys! Very good mix of stages with challenges and plenty of places to make mistakes blended throughout
Lots of fun. I had a great time working with Steve McGinley and Shane Pennington. You guys were great to RO with all day!
Range water tastes great and the food truck was a great addition!

The separation wasn't the odd part. The missing extractor and extractor plunger was the crazy part. At some point while the slide was reciprocating, after the blowout the extractor leg broke off, which allowed the rest of it to take flight. Then the spring pressure on the plunger, the slide was likely fully back, caused the plunger to shoot out through the ejection port.

Other than the magwell sleeve being slightly dislodged there didn't appear to be any other damage. So odd.

great match I'm glad I was able to be a part of it.
Keep up the great work guys.

Mitch Gibson & I saw some awesome shooting on stage 5.
