2014 Oklahoma Sectional

Despite the weather, despite the delays with running stages with mud, bagged targets and RO's getting literally stuck. Hell I don't even shoot Production or Limited normally but THIS WAS AN AWESOME MATCH!

Thanks to EVERYONE WHO HELPED PUT THIS TOGETHER!

It was a time to see old friends and meet new ones!

Keep up the good work Mike and Greg!

Oh and for those who thought Salomon's weren't up to this task, they worked so well in the mud and kept my feet dry.

just a comment, you guys can do with it what you want; cause it isnt a comment one way or another;
I was probably within an inch of DQ-ing on probably 8 of the 10 stages, and yet, no one, RO or otherwise, mentioned any of these times to me.

I know but the RO doesnt know my actions beforehand and probably shouldnt assume that.

Ive also averaged 1-2 DQ's a year when I was shooting a lot of pistol matches.

the best way to run a stage sometimes is to get it to that 1"

this isnt probably the best place to mull this thing over, I just dont think getting close to 180 is anything to be stigmatized, there are some shooters that get scared when they get close, instead of "riding the snake"!

And as an RO I don't say squat to a shooter unless he creates a hazard.. Or they are brand new at a level 1
Im not a good RO; Im too much of a helper, I want to help; inform; teach..

I enjoyed stage 1. I shot almost all the paper super fast by point shooting because they were close. I wish I could do that at farther distances. I forgot to get the video of stage 1 though.

I see what you're saying and didn't mean to stigmatize the penalty. My point is that I made it plainly clear upfront my level of experience so they wouldn't have to guess.

Jerry, I wasnt being argumentative with you at all, I was merely commenting on how things come to be in pistol competitions.
I decided to make a move yesterday that i was uncomfortable with but I ultimately pulled it off. -probably to no advantage...:)

Would that be the...
1) Hold gun at weird angle while running backwards and doing a spin move
or
2) The one hand shooting through the port gangster style

or a different move altogether?

Great match folks. The ROs were worth their weight in gold. The folks on Monday to help with initial setup and on Thursday. Especially Wes Boles, without him Thursday would have been a bear.

I can't thank the RM and ROs enough. Mike Pinto rocked the RM job like a boss.

John and Matt were awesome, thanks much.

Also the shooters that showed up to stick it out through the mud, muck and rain I thank you very much for supporting the 2014 Oklahoma Sectional.

Sunday breakdown crew, special thanks to those folks.

This was my first big match and it was a blast slopping around in the mud, it really kept you on your toes and pay attention to everything you were doing. Many thanks to everyone who put this together and made this happen, everyone that turned out seemed to be having a great time. Special thanks to Matt Rigsby, who saved my ass when my gun went down on the last target with four more stages to go, I couldn't have finished the match had he not brought out an extra M&P and hooked me up with the trigger bar. I just ordered two new ones so I can return Matt's put one in the gun and have a spare should it ever happen again. As Micah keeps telling me it's not a question of if it's going to happen, but when it's going to happen. Cary was great as an RO and Bryan did a great job keeping score and reminding us to sign our score cards. I will definitely be back next year, no matter what the weather throws at us. However should it get crazy muddy like that again I would recommend bucket wash stations, washing your mags in a muddy hole is only adding to the problem, pissing on your mags would produce a better result. Thanks again Mike and Greg for putting on a fun and memorable event and to all the RO's who shoot in the blazing heat, just to return the next day to the Oklahoma Sectional & Mud Pit Extravaganza...

Matt is a standup guy.

Don't wait until next year, come out to the club match next month, or to H&H next Sunday night. There is a USPSA match the 1st Saturday of every month at OKCGC, and the 2nd Sunday at H&H. There is also steel challenge on the 3rd Saturday of every month at the OKCGC, and my personal favorite 3GUN on the 4th Saturday of the month at OKCGC.

No worries there Shane, I attend as many as my schedule and wallet will allow. My daughter finally got to play with her Glock and says she wants to start her matches with a steel challenge, since she can here all her hits and won't stall out wondering if she hit the paper. My only regret is she's a natural shot and will be kicking my ass on a daily basis...

I'll echo whats already been said...thank you match staff for an awesome match.

To me, the state sectional is a tradition. It allows the shooters from across the state to come together and compete/meet at one match. There was a time when we had "team oklahoma" that wore blue jerseys and traveled to matches as a state team. I still have a picture of us from the area 4 match in shreveport years ago somewhere. The section coordinator and section leadership would be a huge part of the the section match, especially during the awards ceremony. At this time im not real sure an organized leadership for the OK section exists.

That being said, I was very honored to take home the state champ trophy in production. It was not an easy win at all, with strong shooters like Lance, Chris and GT in the mix.

The trophies were amazing. Tony took the time to put limited gun images on the limited trophies and production gun images on the production trophies. They didnt even do that at nationals.

We have a great group of shooters in this state, as a section i hope we get more active and organized.

Some pictures.
Including on the way home bonus.

This was a great match!! Great squads and excellent RO's and scorekeepers!! This was my first USPSA match of this caliber, and I had a great experience. Despite all the rain and mud we are were able to stay safe and OFF the ground. This was the first time I was the only Lady shooter.....generally there are a couple of us....so hopefully next year maybe some will come! Also I was very excited to have won my division...we all start somewhere :)!!!! Everyone is always very welcoming and very helpful as always...and freaking hilarious...SETH LOL!!! I cannot wait until next year....and I'll be practicing a lot in the meantime. See everyone soon!! :triniti:
