2012-2013 Deer/Elk/Antelope Hunting contest

Guys and gals, the deer/elk/antelope hunting season is quickly coming up, and we have decided to have a contest for the 2012/2013 season.We are going to keep it easy.

A deer/elk/antelope harvested, no matter if its a doe or buck, counts as an entry. It doesn't matter how many deer you take, You only get one entry into the contest.
Mule deer, blacktail, white tail, etc are all included

A person taking one doe, has an equal chance of winning as a person with a full season limit.

Please post all of the deer/elk/antelope you have harvested with a pic and a story, so the rest of us can enjoy your hunt.

At the end of the season, (Jan 15, 2013), the winners will be determined by a random number generator.

What we ask is, that you show proof of kill by taking a pic of your animal with "BS" on a paper plate, scratched into the dirt, newspaper header, or your carcass tag showing dates with BS written on the tag. If you do the online check-in with your smart phone, you can post a screen shot of the "tag" as well.

This year we have a prize for first and second place! It just keeps getting better.

First place will win a Spot Satellite GPS messenger. Valued at $120.00

Second place will win a Gerber Back Axe II. Valued at $42.

Since I'm putting this contest on, I'll exclude myself from the contest, but everybody else is eligible. Admin and mods as well.

I forgot to take a picture of the doe I shot last night but here is the copy of the carcass tag. Shot a doe last night at 15 yrds with my compound. She went 20 yrds and collapsed. Passed a little 6 pt after killing her.

Not in the contest, but I shot a 10 point with a double drop tine last night. He had a terrible wound from a branch or something on the right front leg, and was limping badly. Another buck kept knocking him down, so even though he didn't have the mass that I look for, I went ahead and shot him. After skinning, he had a terrible infection on that entire side, so in the interest of my family's health, we didn't keep the meat. He was not long for this world anyway.

Almost forgot to post up about the doe I shot last month......
Made what I thought was a great 15 yard shot about 6:45. She piled up about 10 yds into the woods and got up once and moved about 10 more yards. I gave her right at an hour and then went to my truck to change clothes and drop a few things off before i went back in to dress her. When I got back to where she should have been.....nothing. Long story short; I finally found my arrow and spent 3 hours on my hands and knees following a small blood trail. It picked up a little here and there, but overall was nothing impressive. Finally found her on the worst part of the property possible. My buddy and I had joked it would take a winch and a tractor to haul one out from there. You almost need one of those rescue baskets they drop from a helicopter because of the vertical change and rocky terrain. I seriously contemplated quartering her just to ease the pain a little. Finally got her out of the woods at 11:30 pm. I was pretty spent, but thrilled I was able to find her. Turns out because of the downward agle I shot her at, the arrow only took out one lung and exited towards the bottom of her belly.

Shot a doe Saturday morning for meat in the freezer. Nothing special. Just a 175 yd shot.

The first pic is a doe that I shot yesterday morning with the Browning .06 at 390 yds using barnes 165 grain TTSX in my handloads. She was a real pig at 132lbs.
The third pic is a doe that I shot this morning with the S&W 25-5, 250 grain Hornady leverevolution at 25 yds. 112 pounds.

I killed a buck and doe Satruday AM with the the rifle. Am on holiday now. When I get home I will look for the tags in the dust bin. I have the rack of the buck which I will photograph. Wait until you guys see THIS one!
