This just in from John Bent (for those of you who are slow at checking your emails). The following is copied and pasted completely without the consent of John!
Hi Folks;
As we head into the final days before the match, you should have already received registration confirmation from me, and perhaps hotel suggestions. I didn’t put the hotel info together until a couple of weeks ago, so only a few folks have received it; I’ve attached it here just to make sure anyone coming in from out of town has options since we’re starting early.
Parking is not permitted along the road adjacent to the bays; The parking areas immediately to the left and right of the range entrance are to be used. If we need overflow parking [unlikely], it will be in the north parking area near Bays 9 â€" 11 and the rifle bay.
We will open for shooter check-in about 7:30AM on Saturday. Since everyone is pre-registered this ought to go fast. Shooter packets will be pre-assembled, so all you’ll have to do is verify that our registration information is correct, make any needed pen & ink changes, receive your packet, and pick up your shirt if you ordered one and pay for it if you haven’t already done so. By the way, we have a few extra shirts if you decide you want one â€" while supplies last; they’re pretty cool.
We’ve already made squad assignments; I think we’ve been able to honor the squad requests received so far but we ask that you remain with your assigned squad to keep things balanced. It will also help us with scoring, in the event that there are questions or problems with the scoresheets â€" we’ll know where you are. Yeah, I know, who’d ever make a mistake?! Any changes in squad assignments must be coordinated and approved by Matt or I in advance.
The Shooter’s Meeting and walk-through will start at 8AM; I’d expect to have shots downrange by 8:30. We appreciate your help in getting us off to a timely start by arriving with plenty of time to check in and gear up.
Your match fee includes lunch and entitles you to one trip through the lunch line. If you have friends or family accompanying you, they will be able to purchase lunch if they choose. Lunch will be from 11:30 to 12:30. Shooting ahead over lunch is not permitted and we will resume shooting at the same time to prevent “log jams†on subsequent stages.
At the end of the match, we will post stage results for everyone to examine and identify any errors â€" ours, not yours [ha!]. Following that examination period, we will announce the winners and award trophies.
As with all matches, things run the smoothest when everyone pitches in with the range reset, shagging brass, score keeping etc. We do not have permanent ROs at this match, but every squad has experienced shooters who can trade off RO functions. We’ll have written stage procedures posted on each bay. Any questions, please see Matt or I. This has worked well for us in the past. Squad sizes will be very reasonable â€" looks like about 10 people on a squad â€" which is just about ideal.
The match should be finished mid-afternoon on Saturday; in the event of serious weather, Sunday will be our alternate day for completing the match. So far the forecasts look just fine.
Stage construction will occur Thursday and Friday before the match [mostly Friday]. The range will be closed from Thursday through the end of the match.
If anyone has any last minute questions, don’t hesitate to email me.
Thank you. See you this weekend.
