1911: should I convert my series 80 to a series 70?

My SW1911 is a series 80. Should I consider converting it to the series 70 by removing the 80's parts and replacing with the "Slot Blank"?

I have never had an issue with this pistol in regards to the 80 parts, except putting the gun back together when I have totally disassembled it. A few times I didn't do it right and the pistol would not fire.

Will my trigger improve enough for this C class shooter to notice? Your thoughts on this are appreciated.

I did this on my 1911 R1 enhanced. It did not. It knocked 3 oz off of my trigger pull. A trigger job makes a hell of a difference esp on a mass produced gun. My sear wasn't properly fit to the hammer and after that was addressed a magic wand waved over the pistol, the trigger broke like a glass rod at just over 2lbs 6oz

Would it be worth it just so your gun isn't excessively difficult to reassemble? Seems like that would be more an issue than taking 2oz off the trigger pull.

You could also just leave it functional and spend the time you'd allot to fixing it on dryfire and grip strength exercises.

Thanks for the feed back. If the trigger will only improve 2-3 ounces then the conversion is not worth the effort.

your SW1911 is not a series 80. leave it alone, your safety system does not do anthing to the trigger, it doesnt work off the trigger pull.

tHANKS Mike. I know that now. It works off the grip safety. Having written that, are any of the clone 1911's true series 80 like those made by Colt?? Just curious.
