Hey guys, I'm working with Bruce Piatt to bring his 5 day 1911 building class to the Kansas City area this fall. You will begin with a bare frame, slide, barrel and parts and hand fit everything into your own custom 1911. Tuition is $1500 and you get a discount to buy the parts you need from Caspian. If you don't know Bruce, he is a world class shooter with numerous titles under is belt. Shoot me an email if you are interested.

I saw on Bruce's Instagram that he teaches how to build guns. That's pretty cool!

I'm curious as to how a traveling gun smithing school has the tools available for all of this.

I have been wanting to take a 1911/2011 class for a while now. I heard there was one in Trinidad Colorado cylinder and slide puts on I been meaning to check into. I bet Benny's class would be amazing tho!!

I am taking a course later this year with Mark Dye at the Montgomery Community College in North Carolina, not that I know anything about him. It isn't exactly a build class, more of a reliability tuning one, but it was the closest one around me. I saw Benny Hill was doing a shotgun course a week before. I wish I could work out a way to attend both.

usually one time a year I offer a class at my shop for no more than 3 people so as to get true hands on time. I charge about $3500.00 a person but that includes a 1911 or 2011 frame and all the parts, slide, etc.
That would be worth $3500 just to bullshit with Benny for a few days.

I'd bet for $3500 & a spare room, Benny would come hang out with you. elephant dung I'd do it for 1/2 that.

You're so close to cylinder and slide; you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to go there instead.
I looked into that, but it's almost twice as much and you rent the tools, so you don't leave with anything but the gun.

way to do it is to spec out all the parts beforehand and make sure the class goes smoothly and the "fitting" can be finalized with sandpaper and dremels, not mills and lathes

Here's the class:
Welcome students, do you have my money? Hand it over.
Good. Now here's some advice. Save some more money and get a Springfield and buy ammo for it.... now get outta my shop.
the class would be more like; heres your tuition back, lets have some fun and learn. I am a raging socialist when it comes to education
