18" barrel. Mid or Rifle length gas system?

Looks like I'm going to get a custom barrel from Loki for my 6.8 build. Going to be about a 8 week wait once I call him next week and put the deposit down. So Im needing input on which gas system to go with. Is there really that much difference between a mid and rifle gas system? Im kinda leaning toward mid so I can hide the gas block under a rifle length hand guard. What are your thoughts? This is going to be mainly for hunting not really a run and gun rifle.

I've got a 20" 5.56 with a mid length gas and I can't tell the difference from a rifle length in felt recoil or any other aspect. You can hide a rifle length gas block if you get a handguard long enough. Loki has 15" that would cover it even on a rifle length.
