$1200 1911 opinions

One of my most prized guns is an STI Elektra .45acp 1911 which has a 3.24" barrel. It's been totally reliable and unbelievably accurate, i absolutely love this gun! Comes with tritium Trijicon Heinie sights and about $1400 after taxes so not cheap but not super expensive. Plus it's one of the prettiest 1911's there is (mines pink but they have black also).

This looks like an old thread but I just picked up the Ruger SR1911 Commander model. $800 out the door 4.25 in barrel. Great shooter so far and my full size has never missed a beat. I have the kimber ultra carry 2 crimson trace but just don't care for it.

I have been waiting for a 4.25 1911 for a while. When did Ruger start producing a Commander version? I have looked a the few 5 inch guns .... not bad for the price point, but the tigger rattled in the frame a lot in the last one that passed this way. Fixable.

I REALLY like my Sig RCS two-tone. It is a very accurate and reliable 1911, perfect size for carry or range gun. And its nice looking. The Sig C3 isn't too bad either. I also liked the Springfield Lightweight Champion Operator I had for a while. It was hard to find holsters for at that time though, not allot of railed 1911 on the market at the time I owned it.

For his price range I don't think the STI Spartan can be beat. I have seen the 5" run with the big names with great accuracy at single stack matches. Only down side is steel frame if it's gonna be carried regularly. But you can't beat STI parts on a rock island frame for 600 bucks. I know it's pretty common now days but I wouldn't buy another 1911 with MIM parts that's over a grand.
